you need to dump Orbitz!!! Heck join AAA for 30 bucks a year, and get a AAA discount straight from the airline. It's usually quite comparable to the on line booking agencies. Off to read my email and see if there's something there....

I'm having a hard time not seeing parallels between Orbitz and the debbil right now.

hehehe ..................... sorry that made me laugh!!!! LaughLaugh sounds like good names for a couple of cartoon characters that look like large pink rats.

One time good deal (everything else is totally off topic here!) for only $3.50 I'll supply the shampoo and creme rinse! It so happens my local store has the very shampoo you favor on sale (Trisemme), two for $7. I'll carry it in! So that is some stress off you in your travels I hope.

then again if you plan to get something different...................

Thanks, but you should really run it by Orbitz. They're the ones calling the shots, or is it slinging them.

Yes. Justin, or whoever posed as he on Moving Mountains said, "If you're in love, fly over them."

And here I sit like a rock. What's wrong with me? Do you realize how competent I could be if only I had three hands? I realized last night some people only get 40 hours of vacation a year - I get 42 hours off a week!

I have a thought for Justin Hayward, if he's reading (or his minions are reading). First, I really hope he does HIS songs, and not other people's songs, no matter how personal. So many songs to choose from........... I love "It's Up to You" myself. And, I LOVE "No Regrets" it's an excellent song. But if you do it Justin, be sure to get the words right! I wasn't going to say anything, but they were off a little in that boat boot.

Happiness, health and happy trials to the entire Justin tour kicking off tomorrow, Tuesday Afternoon............... have fun! Cool

Some most excellent reviews of the new show, and its opening last night

http://travellingeternityroad......3NsLyiANdc

It's Up to You indeed is in the show (oo thank you) and "I Dreamed Last Night" is as well. Mike is being reviewed well too. I'll let you read up, but I'm very much looking forward to this, I haven't seen this series of solos. Really enjoyed the 90s shows tho. I LIKE the "no drums" format...

Thanks for all the links. I was only about halfway through, and the boss told me I could go home and get some sleep. It was only 11:00 p.m., but I really felt I needed it.

The guy who recorded the YouTube must have had a seat in the sound booth. The acoustics were superb. The first night sounded like opening night. The second night, things sounded as they should. I think "Nights" was one of the best renditions ever. The keyboards were slow and sweet, sort of like the background to certain Chinese songs, and for once Mike's guitar was amplified to where I thought it should be for the "flute" bit. It was nice and smooth, taking me to a dreamy place I could have stayed all day.

I like Justin because of the mood his music brings, but sometimes I shoot up from my seat and want to scream, "What a voice!" He's so clear and in-tune with incredible projection. I think my favorite might be when he is totally solo. The sounds are smooth and comfortable. Do send this along, Mr. NSA Man.

I think it was an excellent idea to downscale. As I was walking dog-pog this morning, it occurred to me that noise is like life. It is full of confusion, but you make it good by focusing on things that are beautiful and harmonize nicely.

Scarlet has this up: I can put you in contact with her if you don't know her on FB. She's very reliable

"I still have a ticket available for Justin Hayward's show in Charlotte NC this coming Sunday. Guaranteed in the 1st 6 rows for face value plus handling fee, $82 total. Will meet you at the show after I pick up the tickets. "

I'm not sure I want to downsize. It's a trend or fad or something right now... no more libraries, it's all electronic, everything is scanned and digital. Heinlein saw it coming long long ago, and professed his preference for a book you can hold in your hand, sometime in the 60s. However, it's also a fact you can't keep EVERYTHING so........ well in my case I have a lot of junk from my grand parents, great grandparents, and my parents I've been combing through, collecting, sorting and consolidating. Not to mention bits and bobs that go back at least to 1750 and maybe even further back.

My attitude is they'll get my first edition OZ books when they pry them from my cold dead hands. I LOVE those. Just a few of the really nice old books around here.

For example, my niece "and all her friends" are downsizing too. Thus no one will take the family heirloom dishes, antiques, etc etc we have here. I guess they'll sit here with me in this house until I kick off. Welcome to the family museum! I think the trend will reverse in another decade myself, folks will be looking for their lost past that they threw away when they "downsized". I've been made the "steward of the family stuff"............... not sure I enjoy it, but here it is.

Still getting rid of a lot of stuff tho. Burning old bills.............. YUCK

Unfortunately, I seem to lose the stuff I like most first. I'd rather read some notes from Tesla or Goddard than, say, store bureaucratic records. If the IRS had its way, all these homeless people would be towing five years of taxes in their backpacks. Who needs clothing? Or maybe they rent space at a storage facility. Some may have been big corporate types with vaults of tax records - oh, and there's all that documentation for the litigation that cost them the job.

Need I say more?

http://www.askjustinhayward.com/

Google chat on May 30 at about 2 pm local (Phoenix time) I only hope I can find a computer, or rig one up.

On the bill burning, my brother the money bags says "burn it all" and my son the IRS agent says the same. Basically if you have the records, your accountable for them! :) everyone has to find their own way with those.

I enjoy burning at night under the stars, it's good to see all those old bills and such go up in flames to the heavens ........

Just attempted Google Hangouts. How hideous........... it wanted me to buy something before it recognized my Galaxy Samsung. I don't think so. But, the official video sure is nice. That makes up for it. Time to go do other stuff, might be back later tonight. Sure hope they simplify the chat access for us poor ol' sods who can't figure out the new fangled stuff

Back on topic:

I was asked to provide a review, but that is difficult. I would refer anybody to YouTube.

As for my perspective, I go to the shows, then I see Justin's pretty, pretty eyes, and then the rest is history. All I remember is being awash with smooth tones, mellow harmonies, perfect musical arrangements, lots of musical talent, and lyrics that touch the soul. I get this copacetic feeling of love, peace, and harmony. The total comfort is occasionally enhanced with a tear to the eye or a shiver up the spine. Then, I get fidgety thinking about the drive back to work and how nasty it will all be when the shows are over and the feeling fades. Then, I start analyzing the music and marveling at the arrangements. Justin appears to be using more technique. His voice was only 99.5% perfect, and what a voice it is. I think he had a whiff of the North Carolina allergies. My head was so full of concrete when I woke up, I couldn't sing for over half the day. I was amazed at how he does it every day. Mike is a wizard. Julie sings the abnormal harmonies perfectly, and she does quite well on the keyboard. There are times when I wish the volume on a note or two could be turned up or down, but why nitpick perfection?

I've said this many times, but the rendition of NIWS was the best. The band found the groove, and they played a perfect arrangement in a masterful delivery. Mike is doing his flamenco stuff for the interlude as well as some Wes Montgomery chording that reminds me of what the Scorps did in "Woman!" In other shows, Nights came across soft and smooth and really nice. I liked that approach, but this was technical precision at its best. In other songs, I would challenge Julie's choice of timbres for three notes here and there, but they'll probably grow on me.

TWS always makes me cry. I thought I was going to make it through this time, but there I went again. It's all personal. Justin explains the meaning behind the words, but the words also describe a different scene that was playing out over here in America - "Cos you know sometimes words have two meanings." It was a spiritual time for me, and I was having de ja vus in reverse that, just like de ja vus, never appear to convey anything significant. You just get that feeling of, "It's all clear. You were meant to be here." You kind of check it off as a sign that you're on the right path, even though life seems to go nowhere these days.

So, TWS flashes me back to 1975, in suburban Detroit, staring out my bedroom window at the western sky. I shared a bedroom with a sibling who was about a year and a half older. Anyway, when my athletic brother and sister were out playing, I stared out the window trying to find answers to the universal questions. I tried on all religions and even asked God if he was out there. In my seeking, I found a feeling that was better than all others. I supposed it came from God. I also had a lovely pear tree and green spruce in my view. Often, as I stared out the window, I did not see them, but in my mind's eye, I would glimpse this place, with green hills of course. I don't know what it all meant. I left it in my dust as life turned into a going-through-the-motions workaday life to pay the bills. There's that part of the song, and then there is something in the smooth arrangement that is sublime and speaks peace to my now crusty soul.

Other than that, Justin dropped his pick three times I think. The strumming dropped out, and he reached casually to get another one off the microphone stand. I like mistakes on stage because they make it look like the performance is live. I don't really care if people have effects to enhance the show. We have technology, we might as well use it. Besides, performance has a lot to do with illusion. What's the difference between a backtrack or an effects pedal? For me, there is a point where eventually stuff sounds so canned it isn't worth the listen - as in a Spice Girls' video. Perhaps I digress.

Justin lets Mike do a lot of the fancy guitar work that he normally covers. He seems to derive pleasure from the demonstrated prowess of both Mike and Julie. I admire anybody who chooses to surround themselves with genius rather than "ugly bridesmaids." I am a little disappointed that such ephemeral, angelic sounds are playing in such small venues. The tour could have turned a bigger worldly profit with more marketing, but I am one of those old crazy groupies that admires Justin for what appears to be putting higher value on living meaningfully. "I breathe the air, while they're running in a rat race."

i"m still floating, comfortably numb. Who needs controlled substances when ome can see pretty, handsome Justin perform live? My only real complaint is that it ended.

Oh, yes. Justin is very funny.

where were you, the Ram's Head or in NC?

Thank you........... good review. I haven't listened to any of the videos on the loose out on youtube............ on some level I want to see it for myself, not vicariously. I'll go through them all later, and put it together I hope. Tho that might be too much work.

Green hills are something that hides deep in our homo sapiens psyche. I've heard anthropology psychologists (a funky academic niche) talk about how our ancestors all came from the savannah and thus we love things like front lawns. Why does everyone want this well groomed front lawn for their suburban home? I don't, I like natural settings (and my brother hassles me about the weeds when he comes through, too) but it's something deep in the psyche of golfers too. Everyone wants this well groomed lush green carpet they can gaze at. Just musing, it means nothing really.

And it makes me wonder............. you know sometimes words have two meanings (Led Zeppelin) yes I think Justin is playing out something in "Western Skies" not sure what. I had a strange dream last night, I was on a bus, but got off in some podunk town because I was afraid I'd left something behind. Was going up to talk with the driver about it (hadn't decided yet) and I woke up about that time. I'm not sure if it was influenced by "Saving Mr. Banks" (which I've watched twice now, great movie) or "Bus Stop" (don't know why but I'm becoming a Marilyn Monroe fan). Thankfully the place I was getting off, or thinking about it anyway, was rather green and cool.

Must go load Strider. See you on the flip flop. You have my phone... . I accept text now.
