You could also fly into LAX, but you knew that.
Exploring Oxford, I looked for the orientation of steeples when I left my car and then had only to realign them when I wanted to wind things up. My old boss Charlie would spiral out of cities to find his way back to the Interstate. "Ever-widening circles," said he. I first tried that in San Diego. I tried it many other times in many other places and have learned it wastes too much time. This tour, I realized I can't see squat at night with my glasses. Yes, it takes years sometimes for me to realize stuff like this. Fortunately, I was getting enough sleep I could remember my way in well enough to backtrack in all but one city - Nashville. There is a fan out there who would recall getting lost with me in Nashville, and Boston, and, and, . . . Another good thing was once I got to the Interstate, I was in familiar and well-worn territory.
"IYBE" could have so many meanings. My dirty mind had it meaning one thing, but the words could tell a sad story of infant mortality, too; in which case, I need not go there, either.
Agree on IYBE could be a lot of things. What disturbs me is seeing fans at his feet, looking up with an expression of rapture during that song, as I've seen a few times. I watch the audience too.
Sex is not dirty. It's a moment of intimacy between two adults who love each other deeply. I don't need to know about it, unless I'm the one who's sharing; I sure wouldn't want a poem about the moment sung on stage for a paying audience. Some things are sacred.
There's times I think men can't tell the difference in death and sex in their subconscious.
But then, a lot of Justin's songs are sad. So, as a fan enraptured by the presence, talents, good looks, and what-all of Justin - exactly what face should one wear when Justin sings sad lyrics of pain? After spending all that money for time off, travel, and tickets, I'm not really interested in what fans look like they're thinking. Precious and few are the moments I can see my big hero live. I'm not a shrink. Since I can't figure out myself, why should I figure out somebody else. I can't figure out Justin. Life is so complicated. We can add to that the wish to be a polite and attentive audience member and my French teacher's admonition that the French think you're crazy if you smile - Then what. I know, Justin lives in Monaco and all. But it is too much for me to sort. If I dared to look as confused as I am, Justin would probably worry he was not doing a good job as an entertainer - except he's probably been warned enough by now to ignore me as a crazy - except I'm not that important - except I am that scary. Oh, bother, Pooh.
San Diego airport is also a zoo, and one of the most dangerous, over-crowded airports in the world.
The VIPs for Bend are allegedly on sale. I bought my regular ticket this morning (go through the Justin website) and did quite well, very happy about it, don't know who told Jill about it, but I had a complete panic attach this morning in my housecoat and uncombed hair, late night of insomnia, then half asleep reading that, trying to figure out the website, should I get a membership etc etc. Luckily by the time I got my stuff together and got to work, logged on I was able to get a good ticket.
Bend/Sisters is a REALLY nice area, lots of wealthy types live out there, ranches and such. With a little promo I think Justin will do well there. Sisters is a quilting mecca and there are about eight fabric stores in Sisters alone, more in Bend. They do a huge quilt festival every summer... hope I find time to get there this year, I have family in the area.
The International Guitar Night group played there a couple of years ago, so I'm glad Mike came through on that... it's all about networking!
leslee I'm more than happy to share bunk space and wheels if you show up in Los Angeles (saw you pop up on another newsgroup.... hurrah!!! will be nice to visit) Like I say I'm just not doing the Coach House, but will be in the Pasadena area that same day. Stay in touch over this!!! It's easy to change rooms at this point, but won't be later on.
Sounds like you might have things arranged however.... and that's all ok! Keep in mind, the traffic around LAX is not pretty, any given time of the day.
Came up on TER "who's going" on the tour thread .............. sorry probably not my business. People do blab. Sorry if someone got over enthused (me for one) I don't exactly like MY show "presence" to be advertised either, and may be skipping one or two myself depending on my mood at the time.
Anyway I'm staying in 1000 oaks (real near Agoura) and plan to enjoy their lovely pool.... that will be the night of Coach House, the Rose and The Canyon Club if you need digs. No hu hu if not.
I was thinking about stuff this morning. Just about every Justin show east of the Mississippi is selling good seats for $179ish. That is because you get stuff with your VIP ticket. And so I wonder who actually likes stuff just because it has the name of their favorite band on it. I wondered if had ever served a purpose and then remembered not getting the memo about a change in venue. I was surrounded by people in Bonnie Raitt gear. It didn't even serve to clue me in that I was at the wrong place. I just thought, "Wow. Lots of Bonnie Raitt fans for a Moodies concert."
But the real thing was: Suppose I have $800 to blow on the next tour. I could buy three eastern tickets and have gas money and then a little extra for bills and such. OR, I could blow $300-400 on transpo and pick up 4-5 shows out west. In the first scene, Justin gets $600 and I only get 3 shows. In the second, Justin gets $400, but I get 4-5 shows, and the transpo industry makes a killing. I is-pose a real fan would give Justin the surplus, settle for fewer concerts, and surround himself with trinkets.
Updated tour schedule (I think) Those are NOT easy distances they are taking on in Washington and Oregon, some of those nice squiggles on the maps are up and down mountains. I'm not thrilled about following them around.... must really think this over. Got a ticket for Aberdeen anyway, like a fool. My home is more or less in the middle of the Washington shows, but that is some late night driving.

Woulda coulda shoulda................ had all the dates been up at once, I probably would have skipped all the Oregon dates, driven home after Napa, and then done the Washington dates. However.... I have the tickets now. Oh well.
If there are any lurking quilters out there, the Western Washington Shop Hop starts June 22, and ends June 26. As soon as you cross the Columbia River, there are quilt stores all the way up I5 and off toward Aberdeen.... this is going to be very very fun. What's really interesting, I was picking through some fabric (thinning out my stash, sending some to Project Linus) and I picked up this cherry red bit of calico from Mom's old stash. Started thinking how nice it would be to do a quilt with all red (some of us call it Redwork) sure enough the Shop Hop is doing a red and black quilt this time.... whoo hoo!
It was a good day today. My neighbors keep nagging about my jungle bushes, so I trimmed them off the road, sweated off a few pounds, then finished another corner of painting in the back "guest" room. Things got done, mountain of dishes, that sort of thing. Work on the tour details tomorrow. Laundry. Sheesh where does it all come from, it's just me here!!!! And one smelly dog.
Just got off phone with Best Western... seems the BW in 1000 Oaks is booked pretty solid for the date of the show! hehe. The place will be crawling with fans. Anyway leslee if you land in LA and need bunk space, you're welcome to share your 1/2 of the King I have reserved. There wasn't anything else left. And yes it's ok to drop by and do your hair if you need to.
Did we say yet that Justin expects to have "new music" for this tour? What a lovely idea! Even if it's stuff off his older solo albums, I'll be happy.

one new song and the rest is "more live in concert" stuff. After over 20 years of live boots and so forth, I'm feeling a little jaded. My best wishes to anyone who can make the fete, I'll get the scraps when they trickle down.
Well didn't that last announcement prove all my scorn wrong:
1. I complained the label was late in announcing, and they announced.
2. I complained about high-priced tickets and these are affordable - no a bargain.
3. I complained about selling junk to scalp tickets, and this package has valuables.
Man, I'd love to go, but it isn't looking likely. I need lots of courage to ask the time off and somebody reliable and trustworthy to fill in for me at work. I've earned enough guilt trips as it is.
As for the single new song - But isn't it nice Justin spends all that time on the road with us rather than in the studios? It is probably a sacrifice for him, too.
I was going into it with a bad attitude, assuming it would be like "In Your Blue Eyes," all gooey and intimate about HER!. Walking the Evo today, I was reminded of so many reasons to love Justin, and I had a change of heart.
Capitol Theatre -
That was the show for which I purchased a first row seat for the first show and a second row seat for the second - only to have the venue revoke them just days prior to the show. They offered balcony seats for free, but that was little consolation for me and the guy who purchased the tickets. So, the guy from whom I purchased the tickets, who until then was one of the band's biggest fans, negotiated fourth and fifth row seats, which was fine. But then, the seats turned out to be more like fifth and sixth. For the first show, the perfect seat, which would have been mine, remained empty. For the second, after a couple numbers, some people came in claiming rights to the seat I was in. I ran to the lobby where I stood for two songs waiting for the ushers to sort things out. They concluded I was the rightful ticket-holder, but not after I let some cuss words fly in the lobby. Minasian probably had to cancel their waveforms, as they surely bled into the auditorium. (That's the short version, anyway.)
Now, it all makes sense. They were all particular about who was sitting up front 'cuz they were filming a video. All is forgiven, but the ride was too wild to want to forget as a comedy of errors.
