Hey guys, do you have a story or poem to stir up some inspiration for the new year?

Inspired, “The Light of a Distant Memory” Volume 2

I invoke his mercy for you to see, you to hear.
Grant you peace of mind for the time thus draws near.

Forces placed shadows upon your mind to forget.
And In faith I still wait for you to remember me yet.

The wanting you, the memory of holding you so near.
The ache, the longing for too long is my fear.

Through the light of safe passage, I reach out, take my hand.
You are remembered, I chose you, do now you understand?

Chosen destination, a bright light then the door opens wide.
I look around and there I find you and I eagerly step inside.

My Soul overcome as I am with you through God’s grace,
I then wrap you in Colors of healing love with a kiss upon your face.

Sometimes your soul is smilingly waiting for me there,
We decide where we’ll go, wherever we care.

Other times I lovingly watch, as you lay peacefully asleep.
My soul slips beside you remembering love to keep.

I appeal for one moment longer to remain at your side,
That I be allowed to watch over you, to let me abide.

My body bolts awake from my voyage I return.
I turn to the emptiness, and my heart seems to burn.

Your soul is my playmate, my lover, my friend.
Free will, the physical destines the choice in the end.

What I’ve chosen and choose forever and ever will be.
Can you see, Can you hear, now do you remember Me?

I'm empty....so I'll cite one Justboy himself shared for all of us (since this is a justboy thread):

QUOTE:
http://justinhayward.com/index.....pid/400030
'Vitae Summa Brevis Spem Nos Vetat Incohare Longham'

By Ernest Dowson

They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,

Love and desire and hate.

I think they have no portion in us after

We pass the gate.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses: Out of a misty dream

Our path emerges for a while, then closes

Within a dream.

UNQUOTE

Wine withstanding...just because the path closes doesn't mean the clearing in the forest isn't still open
(the door may close but the window may be cracked-for what's meant to be will always find a way Wink)

okay, enough of that....(guess I'm still a little 'full of something'-if only myself .... Smile)

I hope that was inspirational--if not, oh wellLaugh

I thought it was *Ars longa vita brevis* perhaps that's the Reader's Digest version.............

I've been watching The Hobbit.......... thinking of "what's meant to be" such as arriving at Rivendel on Midsummer's Eve to read the moon runes.... funny Tolkien didn't make that a big deal in the novel, but it WAS.... fate HAD to swing that way or the story would not have happened. I guess one has that luxury when you're the overlord of your own world, writing a book.

A sort of Deus ex machina.

I also heard another interesting phrase today "you're gaming me" which is, you're messin' with my head. I think that some people tempt Fate far too much. Two teen age girls wiped out on a road near here last night, tempting Fate and playing some "leap frog" game with a friend in a big pick up.... makes one wonder why the young take chances, and the aging don't. It IS a hopeful thing, to think that when a door closes, another opens somewhere else. But sometimes maybe it doesn't. You may be trapped in that particular room forever, as miserable as it sounds.

Guess I'm a bundle of sunshine myself tonight. Some things are "logic" and other things are "faith" some are "intuition". The trick is to sort them out and keep them all straight. Wink

Justin always finds excellent poetry... the best part of his blogs. Thanks for bringing that out, Blue.

Oddly I got a nineteen too! (19 2) It must be magic !! %}

"December Snow" here today. Alas all melted now almost, but it was enough to make me chicken out of going to work this morning at 6 am. brrrr yike!!!

School taught one and one is two, but by now that answer just ain't true..... I wonder about where KIDS get their inspiration.... the only reason they had school today and didn't cancel was they had a PEP RALLY... someone's beautiful daughter is a cheer leader and Daddy wouldn't cancel school (wonder how many showed up..... her hot dog quarterback boyfriend in his four wheel pickup did you know.... ) Was that unnecessarily negative?? Confused snow couldn't have waited a day of course, when I was all tucked in bed nice and warm...

"December Snow" inspires me actually..... but more the melody than the words. If someone wrote a poem like that for ME I'd lose my mind. It would just be too much.

I read a review that DS was done in Reno for this last tour, was anyone there and did they notice it? I never have heard for sure.

I'm trying to think of a good hobbit poem about FOOD right now, 'cause I'm late for lunch and hungry, but will have to come back another time.

I always wondered what the name of that song was!!!! LaughLaughLaugh

I really do like Cuervo Gold, my favorite....

Way back when in 67
I was the dandy
Of Gamma Chi
Sweet things from Boston
So young and willing
Moved down to Scarsdale
And where the hell am I

Hey Nineteen
No we can't dance together
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember the Queen of Soul
It's hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old

Hey Nineteen
No we got nothing in common
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

The Cuervo Gold
The fine Colombian
Make tonight a wonderful thing
We can't dance together
No we can't talk at all

There was a woman inspired
By music that was so desired
She followed a band
To a 'promised' land
And never looked back as required

I've always found a lot of things, lyrics and otherwise, inspirational.... having said that, there is no "promised land" outside one's head, I suspect. And whatever you put into it, will shape that land. So choose wisely. GIGO remember.

Just adding this one that Justin posted on his website ten years ago now.
http://www.justinhayward.com/i.....pid/400030

BC:AD
This was the moment when Before
Turned into After, and the future's
Uninvented timekeepers presented arms.

This was the moment when nothing
Happened, Only a dull peace
Sprawled boringly over the earth

This was the moment when even energetic Romans
Could find nothing better to do
Than counting heads in remote provinces.

And this was the moment
When a few farm workers and three
Members of an obscure Persian sect
Walked haphazardly by starlight straight
Into the kingdom of heaven.

I would disagree with the poet (though I liked the verse!) just read *Killing Jesus* interesting book, leaned on facts, research. The area now known as Israel was quite active, lively and prone to uprisings at the time Jesus was living there. Seems people back then didn't like taxes (counting heads, census etc) any more than we do today. I'd hardly call that time period "dull Peace".............. Surprised

thank you for bringing it forward!!!

And Jesus was born in the Spring, it's almost universally agreed upon by scholars of such things, the shepherds were "watching their flocks by night" and they do that in the Spring to help the newborn lambs. Christmas came to be celebrated during the Solstice time of year 'cause all the Romans were staggering around silly drunk with Saturnalia, and far too busy upchucking to heckle the Christians. :)

My father liked his Christmas present. Unfortunately, Dillard's discount store won't be going out of business every year. But, I think it was the first time I "made" my father happy. THAT was inspiring.

Good!!!! :) My poor father just looked around blankly and said he was ready to "get out of this place"............ my son and I sat with the poor ol' fellah a while, ate some peppermint ice cream with him, opened presents (more sweat suits)......... I told my son "that was good for you, in 30 years you'll be picking out a facility for ME" and he rolled his eyes.

I was seriously free of family this year.... I love them, but I prefer a "fast in fast out" approach. My son's in laws moved into his house for the day, were eating devil'ed eggs and swilling mimosas.... I think he was glad to get out for a while.

I've never been to Dillard's. Must go in there sometime, yeah I don't think they'll be going anywhere soon. Glad it came out ok for you, leslee.

Wish you were here, completely contrary to everyone else, I'm cooking a lovely Boxing Day turkey, and plan to eat on it for a few days. Wild rice stuffing too. Yum.

OOPs veered off topic. I find solitude to be inspiring. I find doing nothing to be inspiring. Unfortunately when I do nothing, the "gotta do" stuff piles up around here. :P vacation time was needed, big time this holiday.

How about this?

http://www.moodybluestoday.com.....ge-justin/

What I really like is that he "appreciates sharing" the music. That's on the same level as the nun giving me a present because she was concerned I was feeling too badly about sending her to hospital while wrecking my car. How does he get so good?!

Ahh....... you take it too seriously.

'Out of Egypt unto Troy--
Over Himalaya--
Far and sure our bands have gone---

Islands of the Southern Run
And cities of Cathaia!"

I like to take the rare gems of life seriously. Things are way too absurd. I shall email you the latest example.

There's only four ways to get it unraveled, one is to sleep and the other is travel---- Jim Morrison

one is some bandits up on the hills, one is to love your neighbor til' his wife comes home......

I never did understand some of Jim's gobbledee goop. But I loved the music and his voice.

Just focus on the good stuff. Check yer PM.

well...okay focusing in on some good stuff--I just noticed this morning after returning home from being gone a few days how well the print of this original painting goes with my "Excalibur" replica on a beat up old wall in my room (sword on one side of the bed, the portrait on the other)...."Return of the King" kind of thought processing here, ya know....Wink

The title is: "Alone With Him" by Linda Lovette - 1974
