Gonna throw something out there... So, I've been thinking of a song lately, that song done by Jefferson Starship called "Miracles." It says:
"I know, love is the answer
Keeps holding this world together
Ain't nothing better
Ain't nothing better"

I have been singing, (chanting, praying) these words over and over to myself and as I say them I keep feeling so many different things like skepticism, sadness, comfort and so on.
Do these words have a universal meaning for you, a personal meaning, neither, or both? Are we all so old and wise that we think these words are just naivete? And if so, maybe that's kind of sad...

I love Starship. "Miracles" is still a great song.

There once was a man called The Twelfth
Who sat all alone by himself
but he didn't minder
Cause his pal 49er
Got suddenly put on the shelf.

Well, not my best especially as I need some more dinner, but I'm very glad the Hawks won. I suppose I'm the only football fan on the board.

Maybe caring or "the Universal will to be" is what holds us together. Love if you will. In which case, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe should be our inspiration. Scares me, dunno about others............ sorry I'm a bit high right now! It was a busy Day!!!

well I have nothing original to submit but something this morning made me think of something to put here...last night I watched the waltons on that inspiration channel while visiting someone --I don't really care for the waltons....I can always find something else to do otherwise Bcause: don't care for the noise of the TV anymore...but...there I was, you know....EXPOSED regardless...to the screen and the sound...Smile

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....lCu9evNRZQ

anyway, my life has been rather agreeably quiet of late without 'you' ('you' know)....

But, as I stepped in to wash my hands (yes, that's all folks) , I noticed out of the corner of my eye a red 'thing' on the floor...so I looked closer and a green and white tag was on it that bore the name, "Unger"--immediately I thought of Caroline Unger, who supposedly was one of the singers in the choir that prompted Beethoven to turn around to the applauding crowd at the end of the 4th movement of his {rather gigantic} Ninth.

so, there. I know that is less than mildly inspiring to most...but really....a little is better than none, eh?Wink

I do know the story.......... so that was her name? Interesting. I don't think he ever finished the 9th, I could be wrong. I didn't know it was huge in comparison to the other stuff.

I was thinking of Felix Unger, then I thought of the iron skillet being handed through the door by his wife......... (ref the Odd Couple) I cook with an iron skillet. See, I would have come up with a totally different connection.

I love little bits of weird coincidence like that. Lets you know someone is watching ;)

I get inspired when people invite and actually take my suggestions. I was invited to participate in a planning meeting for the children's performance. We have three little girls who all sing "with the voice of an angel." Folks wanted them to do a duet/trio, and I suggested they sing something more melodic so people could enjoy the loveliness more. I thought of a very pretty song that went along with the theme, was able to hum a few bars so that it could be recognized, and now they're going to do it. Wow. I had a good idea, and the world might be a better place for it.

The last time that happened was in 1980 something . . . .

How fun! I'd love to get involved in dance or music with little ones. Some are quite good.... I've sat through some very good recitals at various elementary schools over the years. They work hard. I remember doing recitals when I was a youngster, learned a lot. Dance of course, I freeze up when called upon to play an instrument.

Then, you have these savants that mystify. Brittain was singing and dancing at age three, a natural performer. I think her first song may have been "Paparazzi." Her mom and dad don't know where she gets it, either. They don't watch a lot of TV. I think she's four years old, and she is an inspiration to me.

P.S. I accidentally clobbered her sister, Avery, when we were moving lumber several years ago. I didn't see her, hit her in the head, and knocked her over. Now, Avery is about 10 years old and smarter than just about any adult I know. Hmmmmmmm.

I read a really interesting art review today, someone who had gone to see various fine art pieces in Belgium. Made me wish I had the time and money to do that sort of thing... Brughel, Bosch two of my faves... and others. Then I wandered in and picked up *Socrates on the Soul of Man* there was a really nice passage in there about how harmonies... like harmonies from a musical instrument, where do they go if you break the instrument?? I might type that up and post it.... very lovely.

There is inspiration all around us if we simply look ........ saw the Lifeflight helicopter flying to Seattle on my walk tonight. Whomever was riding in there was hurt bad, I hope they make it.

Enjoying simple pleasures.

I'm simple.

Instruments set up percussive (acoustic) waves. Strings and other gadgets vibrate, pushing on the air molecules around them, causing them to push out, and then fall back, multiple times. Notes generally are not of pure frequencies, so they set up sort of a package of frequencies making up a timbre. When an instrument plays more than one note, you get multiple packages. If there is no vibration, there is nothing to make the air move and push on your ear drum in a way that causes you to sense the notes.

So, when you break the instrument, there will be a lot of harmonies, more than likely cacophonous, drifting into space more or less spherically symmetrically, until they damp out. Pick-up and disposal of the instrument will send out more vibrations. When the instrument reaches its resting place there will be no harmonies - until the pieces are disturbed.

Simple?

As for all vibrations, if you understand Mach's principle as I do, and nobody else seems to, then every vibration, though damped, leaves an indelible mark on the universe. Now how the atonement wipes out all the bad stuff is beyond my current pay grade.

I liked that question.

I'll look it over and type up some of it soon.... post for you. Our house is full of books, and I wander into Socrates and the Greek classics once in a while. That particular one helped me when Mom died...

Liked your other post too. don't erase it! Going to get busy doing other things........... this is a time sucker, agreed.

I've only erased two posts, and both were at your request. If my posts are evaporating, somebody is doing it for me.

I request nothing... it's a free country, feel free to ignore me! :) maybe suggest. The musing on Cosmology I think.... went out to look for the conjunction, naturally I missed it last night due to cloud cover. It's a cosmic plot I think... I miss all the cool conjunctions. Very pretty walk tonight. No bears or deer. Or owls or bats. Just really nice clouds and a half moon.

I put on some music to work by today, found *Poetry in Motion* one of my faves, popped it on. Then I decided to read up on Sir John Betjamin.... he was an interesting cat. Didn't know he was into architecture. I think there's on Frank Lloyd Wright in England.... I must go there to see it someday.
