I've been chatting back channel with a few people. Two of those are "super" fans, very involved.... and the general consensus is "I'm not going to snap at the tickets" right off. Enthusiasm has cooled on this, especially with the marketing approach.
I guess when all is said and done, we need to see the details before making up our minds. Yes I want to go, but it's a LONG way to travel just to get there, for some of us. I'm having second thoughts personally. Really gotta see the details on bands and on prices.
IMHO they should look at Justin's solo shows, because Justin is really filling up theatres, and maybe that calmer style of music is what people want. Not head banging. And people are more concerned about their retirement accounts right now.... and so many of us want to do whatever is going to happen during year 2017, a lot of people may hold off until they see next year's touring schedule.
Cute little dribblets are being dropped about the artists. I hope some of them are worth the dribbling... it's not the musicians who annoy me. It's the marketing.

In fact there are times I wish I had been born a dog so I could bite someone in the leg.
OK later edit.... looks like they have the pricing up and it's within reason. My problem is I don't have a cabin mate nailed down yet. I guess it's early in the process after all. Nancy do you need a cabin mate? You seemed like a nice gal.... let me know if you do. I don't snore, I'm mellow and like the upper bunks.
I forgive them for everything.... those prices are perfectly reasonable to me. I'm not worried about any of the artists, just the Moodies. And destination.
Later edit: You're invited too leslee if you want to room with two strangers (I'm sure they will be fine) but I figured you don't like cruising. It's ok. I'm looking forward to that Mayan stuff myself. Cost will be around $1000/person for five days. Actually anyone reading, if you're female and not hung up on the VIP stuff and looking for a cabin to join, email me at josiec5150@gmail.com, we probably need another gal. The more gals, the cheaper.
This is strictly rumor (no for sure yet from MBC) but the bands MAY be Little River Band, Strawbs, Alan Parsons, Randy Hansen, Dave Mason, Shawn Phillips, Lighthouse. Zombies (I stole that off FB)
Anyone who cares, I'm in a four person cabin now, so I withdraw my appeal for a fourth cabin mate. They all sound like nice ladies too and I'm looking forward to sailing with them. Lots of nice people in the fan base!
It's very sad so many people are griping over on the Cruise FB about bands they don't like, or "are beneath the cruise" and whining around for repeats of last cruise. "I'm just not going if [fill in the blank with your FAVORITE band] isn't going!!!!" You know, bands are full of people who have issues, personal and physical, and maybe "your favorite" just can't make it, or it's too far in advance and so forth. Geeze.... you either want to see the destinations and the Moodies, or you don't. Lots of other cruises out there if you crave a special group to sail with. Don't let the door hit cha where the dog bit cha!!!! I'm tickled the Strawbs are coming along, 'cause they only tour the UK and I never see them. They are really enjoyable.
I just hope their buffet is decent. We didn't eat in the dining room much on the first one, the buffet room was so nice and had a lovely view of the ocean. I guess any meal you don't have to cook or wash dishes for is a good one
Luna---Glad you got your cabin. I decided I want VIP, so I went with Aqua Stateroom. The complaints that I have seen the discussion of Jefferson Starship vs. Starship and the appeal for the Zombies. Concerning on I think either would be great. Now Jefferson Starship there is only one oldies, but you still have songs. I would like to see the Zombies back for the music and because Rod & Colin are such nice guys. So far I am happy with MBC choices. I am not that familiar with a few of the artists but I view it as if you don't care for the artist there are other artists playing in other lounges, etc. Move around on board. I was surprised to receive a pm from one of my FB friends complaining about the lineup.
You should be able to find enough to eat onboard complimentary. Last cruise I ate mainly in the cafeteria and the Irish Pub. Only ate in the dining room once. There was too much going and the Pub looked out over one of the atrium stage it was convenient. And you don't have to cook or washes dishes
Yep. I think it will all be ok. I'm calling the Zombies won't be on the cruise (I've been wrong before) and there are two Celtic bands besides the Moodies... makes me VERY happy. (Dubliners and Strawbs) AND Ambrosia does a marvelous upper deck light show...
Yes apparently the Zombies ARE nice guys. Their music didn't "grab" me however, so I wandered off from their show. I'm really only going for the Moodies, and look forward to all storyteller events, no matter what band!
I don't know what is with all the complaints. Cruise II and III weren't to my liking so I didn't go, it's that simple. These things are not cheap! Just GETTING there for us westerners.... sheesh, you don't know how good you have it! They TOUR more east coast too!
And going for the side trips too!!! love to snorkel! Chuckle guess I had better start looking for my fins!!!!
See you there Nancy!
Those not paying attention, you can sign IN now for the Cruise, if you have your cabin already of course. They are also booking side trips, and you can purchase your drink packages. All types of packages, be sure to scroll down, because they put the more expensive ones at the top
Took a while to do all the check in stuff so set aside some time for it, and don't try to do it last minute, no later than Christmas would be my call.
FYI if you love dolphins and are a good swimmer get the "Dolphin swim" package. If you are terrified of the water or have little kids along, do the "Dolphin encounter" it's the kiddie pool. I made that mistake last time.
I finally got back home.... my gear doesn't work too well on the road for staying in touch with the newsgroups.
Had a nice time, lots to say but I want to say it right. We all stumbled off the ship in a daze when we found out about Ray. Talk about taking the Post Moody traumatic stress to new depths.
Me too. Riding out earthquakes in the vicinity of Yucatan is not my idea of fun. We also dodged a bullet, a dive boat full of tourists off a cruise ship also sank... I was on several boats over the two days, on shore excursions. I swim well but that water wasn't exactly warm, and I don't dig being in the same area as sharks.
I'll all my write ups when I get done and they are "ok" to post.... gotta tone down my nasty writing a bit!
Later edit: getting closer, doing some photos today.
