I'm not so much sour grapes, I'm glad I'm not there with the crowds and competition, all designed to get your hard earned money out of your pocket and into someone else's who understands marketing better than me. But yes going to watch too.... those who didn't catch it, it's supposed to stream on RRHOF Facebook. The one with the red pyramid.
I just have trouble handling the fanny people, and it's getting worse, not better. There are many many fans of the Moodies who are charming and kind and nice. But there are also many who get a little nutty around it all. Many will be drinking heavily.
I wish ALL the bands well, and look forward to seeing it all eventually. Also really want to see what they do for Sister Tharpe, I'm very fond of what I've found on youtube with her. I know Justin has said he isn't so thrilled about the copyright issues (the Moodies are far too well represented on youtube) but on the flip side, youtube is really wonderful for history... I find new stuff and people all the time that I really love. Sister Tharpe was one of them.
Wrote up what I was able to see.... tech difficulties, hopefully they will post the whole chat.... they all looked good, but very nervous

BTW blog writing is not formal.... yes my grammar is terrible. Mrs. Lamb would whack my knuckles.
I don't know if you'll be able to see this, but try to follow the link. A VERY good photo of John, Justin, Graeme and MIKE... and I can't tell if Denny is one of the people standing around there. I didn't take the photo. Facebook is REALLY tightening up on the ability to "repost" photos to other sites.... which is of course, ok in that it's intellectual property and a photo belongs to the person who posts it. But I'm still peeved.
Nope. It's only visible to an audience I'm not in, a preposition they ended the sentence with.
I hope everybody is happy in Cleveland. The Internet was down and things were haywire here for a couple days. I'm barely starting to get back to the routine deadlines. There is much cause to aggravate me here, so I haven't had a chance to think of wonderful things. And now another alarm is going off.
I'll go fix it, try in a bit like 15 min. Hi.
Or try this may have to cut and paste. Sorta enjoying freaking out the computer with this. we all get our jollies in different ways.
I've been prowling around in the virtual world keeping more or less up on it all. So far, the Moodies have done 1) storyteller interview on Thursday night 2) the unveiling of the stone with their signatures, along with Jon Bon Jovi and 3) will do their portion of the ceremony tonight, and whatever part of their show the Gods of the RRHOF deem are appropriate. I wouldn't be able to choose, I like so many.
Very active day. Justin, John, and Mike all have family and friends there in force. I can't tell if Graeme or Denny have folks with them, indeed poor Denny seems to be really lost in the shuffle. Other than those three appearances they are staying in secure locations.
I was very happy they all showed up for the red carpet, mildly disgusted that Mike was cut out of the camera feed, and we never even saw Denny, if he was even there. The Red Carpet was short lived as it was very stormy and I don't think many musicians wanted to do it. The Moodies did it for their fans, bless them. Fans huddled in ponchos with umbrellas.
Six hours of the ceremony will be cut back to 2 hours for the HBO special.
This is my blog thread for the info I've found. Few photos for those who are drooling for photos... some videos.

Are you serious, people are selling tickets at the last minute??? bloodsuckers.... I guess some just drove there hoping to get a ticket. I am SO glad I didn't go. Virtual reality has been just fine.
That was great. Thanks for sharing. Now that all is said and done, may I criticize the way the R&RHoF advertised? Had they said up-front that we would get to see an hour-long Storytellers, and that we could stand in the rain and watch the band on any color of carpet, I would have bought a ticket. But, on second thought, I'd still be down here seriously moping because I still haven't found a substitute.
I've added to that thread, most of the Moodies performance was on youtube. Pretty amazing stuff.
I still wouldn't have gone. I just can't deal with the crush of the enthused. I just set up my hotel rooms for part of the August Justin solo shows. I'm trying to stay very off the beaten path. It's like football or any sports. I love OU and the only time I saw them live was at Stanford once. It was very disappointing, they were so far away. The cameras bring them right into your lap.
I thought they were all very nervous in their acceptance speeches, but they got through it. It was about midnight eastern I think, so they must have been quite tired.
Uncle Joe Benson interview aired this weekend.
I'll have to get back to it when I'm not in between two teles.
I sympathize with anybody who is uncomfortable with platitudes. I was talking to my sister tonight. She always asks me where Justin is, teasing me, I guess. I complained about the high-anxiety, apparently backward method of selling tickets, and she shared stories of rock stars skipping out. I said it was like any other business that collects money off egos and doesn't really produce anything. Still, I would have really enjoyed being at the hour-long Q&A - except I couldn't be guaranteed I'd get through the door; or waiting in the rain to see the band - except I couldn't be guaranteed I'd get anywhere close; or seeing the mini-concert - except I was told the house band was going to play and a decent seat would be impossible to get.
I can't even begin thinking about August. Things will be really hectic in my life for the next three weeks. At least the boss gave me some direction for getting my substitute so I can get that rolling. I really hope I'll be able to catch some shows before and after the boss' reunion.
I'd rather be in the back of an auditorium than on the receiving end of a TV. Although nobody would ever guess it, I'm a people person, and so I like living in the moment. Watching TV is semi-artificial, you're there, but they're not. I'm all about the "magic" Justin creates in a room. It's why I live.
That's a good point about "being in the room, creating magic" I agree. It's why I go to shows too.
I would REALLY have been peeved tho, had I gone. It turned out Dire Straits didn't get there or play, some sort of falling out over fees (if any) I REALLY like them and would have been deeply disappointed.
I know that a lot of local "high buck" types (often developers, some of the worse corporate types in the world) had those seats up front, and I understand quite a few of them were vacant. I've had on the back of my mind for a long time, that the Moodies, and some other bands, have been "held back" for nomination because they KNOW if they are even nominated, their fans will wonk out and put them in. Held back because, possibly the place is in a slump. Not saying it is. But it would make good business sense IMHO. There are a few bands, like Tull who REALLY ought to be in there, but they will pull one into nomination once a year, then they are assured of a draw to their museum.
I'm thinking the golden age of rock n' roll will disappear with the Baby Boomers. The Moodies do it right, they don't just bash on stuff and make noise, they write very good music. I think they'll last for a while beyond us.
I thought the Knopflers were having the last laugh on the R&RHoF, Jim Carey-style. I projected they didn't want to be paraded in front of the cameras and play celebrity games. I resent and resist "honors" because they make me feel like somebody else's puppet. I guess that's why so many rock'n'rollers have made a game of snubbing the event.
I got my returns back from the accountant today. Needless to say, it's worse than I thought, and I was having a cow. Then, I saw some nice person gave me about $300 in refunds in my bank account, and I was happy. I attempted to buy some August tickets, but Ticketmaster was broken on two computers. The pages wouldn't download. This, too, shall pass.
Meanwhile, I'm still stuck with my Air Supply ticket for a few days. They're all right. It's just that I only buy Justin/Moodies tickets.
Meanwhile back on the RRHOF theme: from Denny's FB, all except my commentary at the bottom (and I stole this off TER)
https://www.facebook.com/DBFLaine/
Denny Laine Page Official-- The RRHOF contacted the band individually weeks ago asking if they wanted to speak and if they wanted to submit their speech to be placed on the monitors; it was the individual members choice to speak or not to speak.
The show producers briefed the band before the show and explained the lineup of speakers to move things along (Jon Bon Jovi’s speech alone was 20 minutes long and took up a lot of time)
The reason you see Denny, Mike and Graeme moving about on stage is because the producers were telling them to stand out of shots of the several cameras along the stage. [ed-- Justin was off stage right in the shadows until the end]
They were going to say something about Ray at the end, but the producers had already turned off the mics as the band were walking to center stage to perform.
There was absolutely no animosity within the band whatsoever, just the complete opposite. The band was very happy and enjoyed themselves and each other. It was a very nice reunion of old friends who shared a lot of memories.
[Sounds like Bon Jovi really likes to talk. ]
