Thanks, Luna, for posting Mushertom's review - I was at that show too and wanted to read his review but have not had a chance to get in touch directly. My seat was in the balcony area where I sat next to a couple who had never seen them live before; by the end were looking forward to another show. My experience was much the same as Mushertom's in terms of general reaction but what I really remember was how the guys just came out there like they owned the place as if to say "it's only been 50 years; you haven't seen anything yet!". It may have been my seat placement but the drums, backup vocals, and Norda's flute were a bit more prominent than in prior shows, which added to the overall enjoyment. Gordy especially was really energetic and just contributed to the "wall of sound"-type vibe. But overall the show was a balance between all performers. For me my favorite songs were "Gypsy", "Steppin' in a Slide Zone", "Peak Hour", "Story in Your Eyes" and I do like hearing Graeme recite "Late Lament" and wish that when he is talking that people around me would just listen and not feel the need to recite with him.
The crowd was, as Mushertom wrote, very appreciative after Nights and I think they got a bit of help from John on that one. (He was gesturing for more applause.) Graeme had a clever and slightly different speech before "Higher and Higher" and while he didn't dance (Norda tried to nudge him along, but to no avail), he did have his moment where he grabbed the microphone and leaned forward and belted into it. They were all having so much fun that it makes one aspire to be at a point in life where they must be now.
And when it was over, I just sat there for a moment because it was a very fast two hours and I couldn't believe it had come and gone. I definitely wanted a second concert the next night.
Thanks for posting your review, Mushertom.

OK here goes! alas I cannot post photos to this site, so you'll have to suffer and head over to my own site. It's really good! Sorry about the ads in advance
Luna, I think "discreet" is the key term here. If someone sitting next to me wants to take a video, fine. Take one. Just sit there and take it. But don't replay it right then and there to see how it came out. (Yes, this really happened.) That's distracting to those of us who want to be in the here and now and enjoy what is on stage.
I think the worst tech I've seen was the woman sitting next to me with 9 inch nails, madly texting her very best friends all about the show. Then she had to talk to ME over Justin singing (that REALLY was annoying) I finally got up and moved.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good video and good photos as well. But there is more to the show than watching it through the lens of a camera.
Heck I'm to the point that I think it's pretty rude for people to whip out their electronics and start playing games. I don't whip out a book and start reading when I'm bored. Even though I'd really like to.
leslee found some photos of Richmond....

My goodness they WERE sorta sneering weren't they? Wonder who tee tee'd in their Cheerios???
Ooh. Ouch. At least Gordy smiled for the camera.
I need to change my evil ways. My last few concerts have been a matter of driving like a maniac to get there, praying for a miracle ticket, and then worrying about getting back to work in time.
Oh, yes. Those miracle seats were great. I told about the guy who got me fourth-row center seat just as I was about to sit down, but another memory is haunting me.
It is hard to talk about miracles because you feel so stupid for getting yourself in a predicament that requires one, and you don't want to get people in trouble for their good graces. But there was this sold-out show where I was lucky to get a seat in the second row from the back. I had asked security where the scalpers were, I had talked to the big cheese. The big cheese, who looked something like the old guy from "Dynasty," said he would try to get me in. So, I sat in the back with my free ticket, but I was very disappointed. Something in my head told me to go to the lobby and tell the big cheese I got in. I went to the lobby and saw him walking by as I was halfway through. I caught up and did so. I did my best to thank him for his help, and I went back to my perch. The lights went down, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but the big cheese standing at the end of my row. I knew what it meant, and gladly followed him to a better seat. It was a VIP seat, not as close as I usually like, but it was nice. The big cheese later brought me a Moody Blues poster as part of my VIP treatment. I keep it over the sun visor in my car so every time it slides off and hits me in the head, I remember that miracles do happen.
Man the weather is really a problem in many places!!!!
Our friend Krys Britton was at the show last night, has good stories and photos. She can be linked at

I'd love to be in Florida right now.
I saw the Moody Blues in St Augustine FL March 22nd. Flew all the way from Portland Oregon for this show. All I can say is WOW! To see Graeme Edge come out from behind his kit and do Higher and Higher was totally terrific. all were in fine voice and looked like they were really having a great time as well as us. The band still has it after all these years and I saw them when they were first starting out. At least at the St Augustine show, the weather was humid but over 70 degrees at show time. One day I would love to see the Moodys with a full orchestra. I loved Red Rocks, and that would be totally awesome.
I agree, it would be nice if they could eke out another orchestral show. There is such a lot of logistics involved tho. Glad you could make it...... I've always wanted to visit St. Augustine. Are you doing the cruise too? BOY that's a long ol' flight, I went from Seattle to the cruise dock last year..... enough to turn me OFF the whole cruise scene this year, I really don't dig flying.
