Thought I'd start this thread, it's been 55 years now. It's really fascinating, I like aviation forensics, I learned a few things I didn't know. It looks to me (from the photos) like the pilot tried to land the plane going very very very fast, probably with snow on his wings (more weight) .... I didn't know the Big Bopper had been tossed out of the plane. Also very interesting that Buddy Holly "packed" but after all, he WAS from Texas ;)

Maybe folks can add their favorite song from those three musicians? I like many of them.

I was watching The Buddy Holly Story last night (I got that with La Bamba in a two DVD package) and was struck by how good the drumming was. The drummer with the Crickets, you never hear HIS name, but he was really a good deal of their sound. I'll have to look him up. I thought the dude who played him in the movie was a very good performer.... enjoyable movie to run over on a cold winter night.

Watched La Bamba tonight, I think they were lip synching, but the young man playing Richie was quite cute. I think he did Wind Talkers too, would have to check the credits. (could be wrong). I did spot a flaw in The Buddy Holly Story tho. On the marquee it says "Feb 3" and that is a mistake. They played that venue Feb 2, and crashed in the very early morning hours of Feb 3.

La Bamba is a lot of fun if you grew up in Los Angeles as I did. Made me a bit homesick. I remember La Bamba getting played on the radio a lot when I was small.

Sound track to La Bamba was done by Los Lobos and Carlos Santana..... all original music, not the original stuff. Quite a feat to reproduce the sound actually.
