Never Ending Story brings back memories! ~ haven't heard that one in a long time. Pretty song!

Here's the Justin connection that turned a bunch of us onto Mandalaband.

I was listening to the Lyric this weekend. I found out some fascinating stuff about Verdi. In less snooty climes, "Everlasting Love" was playing all over the radio.

Pammy - your thingy won't play on this puter.

This had problems today, and I think it's just from over use and heavy traffic. Let's see if this will load. I've collected up a few videos to keep everyone amused. The first two are typical of what young people are watching.... I thought they were both pretty cute.

Found a wonderful version of "Wichita Lineman" since Gordy mentioned it today, I didn't know Keith Urban could sign like that wow.

Sweet ...Interestingly I saw a re-run of an old Lawrence Welk show last weekend and one of their regular talents did an excellent cover of that song .....
Anyhoo something inside of me about right now is whipping up a gust of familiar feeling that one can only attach to a southern fried belle from hell gettin' spun up over something "in the air 'round hair ' so I started running back through this hot tune I was racing to on the highway earlier this day of past future ....

The South's doing it again folks :-)
Sorry this cheesy live version was all I could find of the original right now. Close your eyes and it'll sound better.;-)

Never heard that one before!

Here's a good one.
Just recently, I've been exploring a group I totally missed back in their day.
The impetus for exploration was spill-over from Mandalaband and its musician's roots tracing back to this group. Many Moodies fans followed
BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST
Love this one for the 'bright' keys.

The Moon is rising over Seattle, full. My goodness it was beautiful driving home from a very long tiring wild day. I've done my days riding.... it looks to be fairly clear this weekend in Seattle, so we got lucky for a change. It's cold. Wear your long johns.

or who? ;)

Speaking of moons and Justin, we had one of these last night:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~~
I love the tone of Justin's voice, how it is twinned or over-dubbed with a tiny delay on the second and Have always loved the mandolin in modern music.

While we're at it, some more mandolins, sparingly, gorgeously executed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- there's a cut to Davey (Johnstone) on mandolin near the 2:53 point, and the rest of the band in all their early 70's glory later at 3:27.
EJ with two instruments: his vocal chords and piano can manifest a full symphony in our heads.
Bernie and Elton and the core EJ band were pure magic.
And one more, for those of you who may not recall the master lyricist behind Elton's songs.
Prior to EJ's performance he introduces writing partner, Bernie Taupin.
Then hear the song, hear the unique turn of words weaving this beautiful story-song.
Incredible; these very young, self-possessed young men already held such wisdom, heart and soul.
PBS had Sir Elton on the other night and he performed a song I had not heard him do that I thought was really good (guess I should pay more attention to things...)
Here's a memory surger-wonder what ever happened to this happy hippy?Wink
I like that song.... I never could tell if it was "Ah Maria" or "Amarilla" (the latter being feminine for "yellow" in Spanish) That IS a blast from the past.
Poor ol' Justin was really squinting his eyes in the white light last night, he looked like he could use a day off and a call home.... hope Marie is on the other end of the line for him.
thanks for the tunes, Sphincxs........... Laugh
i hear those lyrics as "My Maria...."
In fact, just did a quick search and bingo, hear ya go:
~~~~~~
LYRICS:
My Maria, don't you know I've come a long, long way?
I been longing to see her
When she's around she takes my blues away
Sweet Maria, the sunlight surely hurts my eyes
I'm a lonely dreamer on a highway in the skies

Maria
Maria, I love you

My Maria, there were some blue and sorrow times
Just my thoughts about you bring back my piece of mind
You Gypsy lady, you're a miracle work for me
You set my soul free like a ship sailing on the sea

She is the sunlight when the skies are gray
She treats me so right, lady, take me away

Maria
Maria, I love you

Maria
Maria, I love you
Maria

This is not acceptable. We must do something to make him better, but what?

I'm listening to my favorite song. Hint: It has the initials CBY, and I like to mispronounce the first word.

Back on the secondary subject, Once upon a time, when I was much younger, I was walking down the road in a barrio of Atlantic City. I was wearing a very nice yellow top, and some guy yelled from the window in a Spanish accent, "Yellow! Yellow!" To this day, I don't know if he liked my yellow shirt or if I was so hot he was shouting for ice.

Good ones Sphinx!!
I'll bet you've heard this music but perhaps others have not.
Last year I was baking Christmas cookies and rolled across a fantastic Rock production on PBS of Handel's Messiah
Followers of the TV talent show Rock Star INXS may recognize contestant Aussie Mic as one of the vocalists.
