THAT'S A GREAT STORY... can I steal if for my blog? Heck can I put it in a book????

OK when you talk about aluminum hats, next time I'll take you seriously! I've been known to attach foil to antennae to get a football game or something, but I was never swift enough to hook it to a phone! Guess it can be done tho.

Well what was the question and what did he say? Just curious. I'd have to really dig for the interview... do you remember the date? (Taran should have it)

Hey MBT good to see you! Don't be a stranger! I don't have all that many friends on line I can talk classical with!

I try not to be...just really busy working, learning real estate, "elfing around" on facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1533397747 (almost done with that too - it was fun for a bit --was trying to heal up from an auto incident when I last posted--thought for a split moment that I was finally going to get to see how life ends in a car (new vehicle to have to pay for now-the one I drove for the longest time that saved my bacon the most--totally unsalvageable-talk about one reaching their 'breaking point' I think I finally did) and remembering my password on this site but I wrote it down in a conspicuous place this time (too damn many passwords swirling around the head these days - ) Enjoyed your videos btw :)

MBT - Sorry for your booboos. Pain hurts. What are you doing selling real estate? I thought you were some kind of aeronautical engineer.

Me likes sacred choral sounds, but that Rorschach looks like three guys' feet under a curtain to me.

luna - Whatever I post here is public domain. Although connecting with Justin in some remote way on Rockline was a highlight of my life, I cringe at the naivete of my question, obsturbing the Great Justin who could have spent his time answering something more cogent, and my voice and public presentation are so miserable, I really don't want anybody to have to relive this.

Allow me to clarify. Back in the day, to get on Rockline and still listen to the show - because one couldn't just look up the podcast on the Internet; there was no Internet - one had to get a phone and a radio together. The radio signal was not available in the house, which was a trailer I was renting from the boss' wife. I was using the foil to try to expand the reception of the radio, which back in the day also had an antenna. I wasn't knowledgeable about tuning through configurations and resonant wavelengths, though. As a last-ditch effort, I found the signal was available on the car radio if I pulled the car on the lawn, almost in the garden, of, remember, the boss' wife's trailer. This I tried under cover of night.

I had a superlong phone cord, but the clip on the RJ11C was broken. So, I used bubblegum to secure the connection to the nearest phone jack and stretched the superlong cord out the front window, the screen of which I had to, um, bend, remembering this was the boss' wife's trailer. The phone reached just to the dash. I got to pick up the program on the car's radio, and there I sat, listening to the sounds of a lovely Justin Hayward interview and the CHIRP CHIRP chirp chirp CHIRP CHIRP chirp chirp.

I'm listening to Robin Trower and readinga bout insurance company mergers. One article mentioned "the blues plans," and didn't capitalize it, so my poor little sleep-deprived mind was sitting there wondering for a couple seconds what Trower had up his sleeve.

Oh my we all seem to be busy!! MBT, I dropped you a note on FB. Myyyyy I am so glad you're ok. I understand about that car.... I got lucky, I was able to sell my old one rather than scrape it off to the boneyard... got pretty good cash for it. I too am "new car" right now.

Deep breath. Again as John says "Congratulations, you made it this far" or as Niezche says even better "That which we survive makes us stronger"

I'll listen to your stuff in a second.... leslee shame on you driving on a lawn. (I do it all the time here... a front lawn is a great parking place, especially if it's all moss and crabgrass like mine is)(I don't do lawn fertilizer) I keep hearing really nice songs on the Margaritaville station, so I'll have to look this one up.

My dad's will is getting settled I think, so I have three insurances to shuffle. Two vehicles, and one house to resolve. Staying busy indeed...

Here.... I thought this was really really nice. Enjoy.

I don't know anything about Rocket Boys, but the clip looked somber. That one guy did have a shirt like Justin, I noted. I've always struggled with musicals, unable to suspend my disbelief that crowds could spontaneously burst into song like that, before flashmobbing, that is. But in my older years, I was more than blown away by the choreography in the chimney sweep dancing in Mary Poppins. Thinking of it last night, it reminded me of the lyrics of "Capturevated by You." I tried to pull up a YouTube, but the brightness setting on this computer is too dark, and I can't change it. Boo hoo. So, now I am listening to a black "Step in Time" in the background.

Lastly, you could have gone all day without me saying that, so maybe I should practice my relevancy skills.

No actually the last time I watched Mary Poppins (a few months ago when I subbed for music somewhere) I was absolutely blown back by the choreography in yes the Chimney Sweep section. There is a lot of work in that... .the music is marvelous too. Right after that, I got interested again, and went out to buy *Saving Mr. Banks* which is the back story to the movie. I can see now, that Uncle Walt tried to varnish the story with the usual "hoke" (Disney is famous for corrupting good stories, they mangled Percy Jackson badly) and PL Travers fought him down to the wire, thankfully. It's a quality movie, labor of love. Yes much different from the books too, all of which I read after seeing the movie as a bubble gummer.

It was a super good movie to teach with too. I love the "Feed the Birds" sequence too, I get the weeps during it, not sure why. Before we watched it, I explained to the kids in class (they'd never seen it, some of them) how in the days it was set (Victorian) they didn't have welfare, and poor old women would go around and gather up crumbs from the bakeries, then sell these as their income. Pretty wretched.... the kids looked very sober at this. So the "tuppence" is a moral story, nicely disguised so it's not too preachy.

My Mary Poppins songbook was my first guitar book too!!!

I think it would be wonderful (dreamy tone) to do a musical of the Moody Blues or of Justin's life or whatever.... in the same sense as "Jersey Boys" or the ABBA musical. I would work on a script, if I thought it would get the attention of any band members. You could do lovely ballet sequences.... it would be marvelous. I don't mind musicals, and love live theatre. I'm not sure everything SHOULD be a musical. The author sure likes the Rocket Boys musical..... 50s are popular times to set musicals I've noticed.

Stage plays like that are super high risk and expensive however. You never know what's going to succeed.

Speaking of musicals, and back on topic. What am I listening to right now?

I was getting my groceries today, and I always check the video rack as I go by (do I see anything I've been meaning to get at a reasonable price???) The Wizard of Oz, the original, was there for a reasonable cost, so I threw it into the basket. I get these things for the documentaries and special features as often as not, and I am a bit of Oz buff, have all the books I've been able to track by L. Frank Baum. Amazing writer, early sci fi genre stuff. My Mum said she saw this when it first came out in the theatres (she was 14) she took a little kid she was babysitting. The kid completely freaked out at the movie, under the seat ... apparently in the original film release, it was a lot more scary, and they had to take out a few witch scenes. They confirmed this in the documentary, kids had to be removed from the theatre it was so scary. Otherwise, Mom said the color was pretty cool that first time, when I was very small I watched it in black and white of course, and loved to hear her tell about "what it looked like in color".... before we had color TVs.

Disney has had the rights to Oz since the late 50s. I am SO glad Uncle Walt didn't do a follow up movie... it would have been hokey.... Kiss

Anyway not to bore with a lot of Oz trivia (I could) I put on the "with commentary" selection, and it was a real treat, got to hear clips of interviews with cast members and crew, some quite funny. What shocked me.... this song was seriously almost not put in it. It was in, then out then in etc.... the commentator then went out to outline the numerous awards, "Best song of the Century" and such that fell upon it. One little song. It still makes me cry.... it's one of the best arrangements, and matching of voices ever. Listen to the harmonies. They knew how to write, and how to orchestrate, back in those days.

This scene was also shot at the end of filming, and here's a bit of trivia I had always suspected, even when I was a youngster: Toto was a female dog, and she and Judy G. were very good friends. That little dog really loves Judy, even though looking at a trainer off screen for cues. Smart little thing! Judy tried to buy the dog at the end of shooting, and the trainer wouldn't let go of her!

Judy Garland really did have a voice like an angel.... she and that crazy daughter of hers. Smile

Hey MBT.... that was nice, the Requiem piece. I wish I had time to get to church and get involved in such things. I enjoy singing. I'm just not a soloist, but there is something nice about being part of a choir and hearing it all blend so well.

I understand about the passwords. I tend to keep a folder next to my computer where I've jotted them all down.

I found it interesting that Justin mentioned the dissonance resolving, as I'm pretty sure I posted here that I have no need for dissonance. I recall a former employer who was trying to promote some music written by a poor dude while he was in a Nazi concentration camp. He had no piano, and to me, it sounded like it. The boss said he liked the way the dissonance resolved in his work. "Apache" is not like that at all. When I think of dissonance, I think of somebody sitting on the piano.

The next time I go to Michigan, I'm going to have to check out my father's record collection. Maybe I was listening to the Shadows when I thought it was the Ventures, based on what YouTube is presenting. Whoops! There go the lights again. The dog is growling. Funny how you can imagine all this stuff when you start talking about it.

Funny I was just thinking about cognitive dissonance (actually a psychology term) in the "Freedom of choice" political debate and I will not throw that out here.... too squeamish a subject. But it's a classic, a lot of Baby Boomer women are going through this.

Mostly I think of cognitive dissonance when I listen to fans who are in love with some celebrity, don't have any idea what the person is like having never gotten to know them (just their stage persona) but swoon for some beauty feature. I include Kim Kardashian stalkers. I also include Scarlet O'Hara's unholy "love" for Ashley.

The word "dissonance" was not used but it is also core to the "creation of the world" in JRR Tolkien's mythos. One of the "angels" introduced dissonance to the Great Music, and everything since has been trying to resolve it.

Keep on trying to hum in harmony out there.

But then, there is dissonance in everything in the material world (except Justin's pristine stage persona, with whom I am madly in love). The Big 3 automakers did not invent the package. Everything has some nasty or potential for nasty in it. I go to church to worship the True and Living God, and cross paths with the stalker. I enjoy eating lush, fresh fruit, but the sugar gives me a fatty liver. The view out the window is splendid, but the leaves one day will color and fall. One cannot win. We, can only, as mis amigos paraguayos recommended, try to do the most of the most.

Something I despise in political arguments is conflating virtues, in their ideal, platonic forms; with pragmatic policy. They say honesty is bad because an honest person would turn in Jews in Nazi Germany. No. Honesty is good. Murder, torture, and tyranny are bad. When evil people force good people to choose between two evils, it does not touch perfection of the ideals. It rather forces one to make a black/white decision based on a mix of 54 black pixels and 46 white pixels, only 30 of which are visible, and 26 of those are filtered, scrambled, and moving too fast to analyze.

Do I sound dejected? Nah. I'm just a dissonant. Somebody actually put my name on a registry of dissonant physicists. A friend of mine came across it, I believe. I am being malapropriate in case you didn't notice, which would be perfectly OK in terms of the above arguments.

One woman's weed is another woman's house plant.

There's always imperfection out there. It's how we accept it, look at it and with what attitude that matters.

fresh fruit should not give you a fatty liver, it's all simple sugars.

I picked a whole 12 plums off my tree today, and the apples are all full of worms.

I really need to prune this year this fall. Fruit is ok for you. Keeps ya regular Wink

What am I hearing now? The heroic music of *Independence Day* which was done by David Arnold, a SODs chum of Justin I do believe (also did music to *Dawn Treader*, another favorite movie of mine) I'm wondering if Arnold will do the next movie too. Also tickled to see Brent Spiner and Jeff Goldblum will be in the movie, along with some other cast members. Hope they can get Will Smith on board too. Here's to hoping it's a good movie. I love a little cheese so long as the acting is good.

My brain can't keep up with all those names and connections. Why, I have a hard enough time finding stuff on the desk here. I'm hearing commercials on the boss' TV, cars passing, the cry of a plaintive dove, and some high-pitch something or other.
