I don't do homework because I'm too busy filing articles and briefs on my road trips, usually at Denny's or McDonald's. I remember a trip to LA a long time ago. I had pages from the proposed Downtown Master Plan in stacks all over the motel. The beach, sunshine, and palm trees were just out the door, and there I was, reading about how this clown was going grow synergies for a vision of tomorrow and such by requiring all new buildings over so many feet to be architecturally divided into three segments, and on and on for about 100 or 200 pages. I peter-principled myself into being the only conservative watchdog in the local press; so I had to review the document in search of gotchas. No person in their right mind would. I had an anxiety attack and took a short spin in the car.

The next day, I went to Occidental College, not knowing that was where our POTUS had gone. It was absolutely beautiful. I kept asking students to help me find the library, but none of them knew where it was. Finally, I arrived and the folks inside were kind enough to set me up at a computer in the upstairs to write my articles. And that's what we call a vacation.

Getting to use your computer to listen to the commissioners' mega meeting was most excellent, and I am most grateful. Otherwise, I'd be in Denny's eating nachos all night to pay my keep, trying to hear the thing on earbuds. It wasn't as bad as when my mother died. That was when city council had the marathon on the lavatory ordinance. A stream of people in drag approached the podium. The fact that it lasted all night was not so bad as that my little niece and nephew were at the house, and I didn't want to expose them to the adult content of what now passes for government.

What am I hearing now? I am ignoring the TV and the Evo and listening to "Dawning Is the Day" in my memory.

Aw, a tiny bird just perched outside the window. So teute.

Watter's World.

Surely people can't be this dumb. Our education system is a waste of time. Sad. Frown

I'm dumber than they all. I cant' even get pens to work. I can never get through a fast food restaurant in less than 26 minutes, often because I break this or that machine. I can't eat without getting a dog head between me and my food. I can't think because I'm bombarded by a blaring TV and radio trying to drown out the dog. Now that the office is on the cloud, contact information keeps disappearing. I've got to cancel three accounts - two of which I have absolutely no information about except the name of the company. I can't even fix the master computer on my car to get it running again. Add to that, I saw two people in separate circumstances walking down the highway today and didn't have the presence of mind to stop and offer help. One was a girl, who parked her car and ran across the road carrying a huge blanket.

I'm hearing an annoying clicking in my head. I think Evo wrought some mechanical damage barking in my ear all the time.

Hearing nothing right this minute, but I've been watching all the Star Wars movies back to back and hear a lot of John Williams music in my head ...... two and a half more to go (seven all total.) Might warm up the Hobbit movies next and watch all nine of those back to back. (Extended LOTR)

Been working hard for a couple of days, emptying boxes. Still too many to go, and next I'm going to price some new carpet for this place, 'cause I'm tired of the smell. Maybe I'll put down hardwood in some spots.

I ran across my box full of Moody CDs I'd misplaced (I took a lot of them on vacation to listen to) and was just thinking. I DON'T listen to Moody music a lot because it sucks me in and I get nothing done but lay around listening to the gorgeous music. Sometimes silence is welcome.

Well back to my project and the movie. Take care of yourself out there leslee.

The boss has a screech! screech! coming out of his wheels.

I forgot to mention, I found a nice color combination for your kitchen. When last we spoke, I repulsed the world with coming out of the closet about adoring Brady-Bunch orange countertops, but with dark wood. As for your warm oak (which bores me as much as salem blue and carnation pink, sort of the Pantone Color [sic.] of the Year no less) cabinets, I saw a house that made that sappy color work. It was with charcoal gray. Think about it. You could avoid the gold and avocado and buy stainless steel appliances, which would look stunning with the walls done in a rich charcoal gray. Leave the ceiling white, but do all the walls, except your mosaic over the stove, in dark slate/charcoal. Sound good, dahlink?

Oh, I remember those days in Clarkston, before everything became so rotten, in the walkout basement, on the lake, on the floor with my head sandwiched between the speakers listening to Sur la Mer. There remains an untapped universe of good in that music. I'd love to enjoy it in surround sound again.

WD-40 for the wheels. It works wonders.

The orange has got to go someday. I stay with white in the house, it's very dark in here, and that charcoal grey (which I actually love, did you get a look at the OUTSIDE???) in large amounts is pretty dark. Most people walk into that kitchen and say "wow that orange will wake you up in the morning!!!"

Hearing the same news source you are, I just woke up. Much to do this week.... onward!

The curse causeless shall not come, and here I am in the lowest of Dante's infernos, listening all day to the TV blasting at work, where talking heads are so excited about news clips of presidential candidates speaking in the ugliest of voices, spouting falsehood and power-tripping. I can't open the window to feel the warm breeze and hear the birdies because that will disturb the refrigerator.

two classical pieces. My classical station is funny, it's almost like they go away for a bathroom break and leave tapes of Bach and Mozart on (and the dinky dinky really drives you crazy after a while.) THEN you get this gorgeous stuff like these two.... Dante's Inferno is sometimes in the mind after all.... if Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson can get out of it, anyone can.

Erich Korngold Violin Concerto in D, Op. 35

That one reminded me of just about every sci fi theme song I've ever heard... really nice.

I wish I had your appreciation for the fine arts. I know, I have to work on it, but I'm too lazy.

That picture reminds me of cover art for Moving Mountains.

Now I'm listening to the news.... one lively summer out there sounds like. Didn't we all do this back in the 60s? Makes you wonder if there isn't some great world wide cabal trying to control things. From what I can tell, this overthrow in Turkey is a good thing, but should reserve judgement (violence is never good, but probably necessary at times.)

Still reeling over Monaco, I turned that on about the time the reports started coming in yesterday, 4 pm PST. Hope the Moodies and all friends/family are ok. Cry

I'm reminded of my parents, they lived through WWII.... when 9/11 happened, Mom went in and popped popcorn, and the two of them sat riveted to the telly.

The boss is watching Stossel on RTV. He's all right. A thunderstorm is brewing, causing the Evo to say, "ARF!"

I majored in math because nobody got hurt, and nobody died. It was perfectly logical, too. As a result, all this emotional, irrational, interpersonal, savage stuff is way over my pay grade. Man's inhumanity to man in the news cycle always conjures the scripture about "wars and rumors of war." Power brokers like to yank our chains and get us riled up and ready to submit to a strongman. I don't give them my anger anymore. For most of my life, I avoided horror in art and in social studies. Life is short, and I control what I put in my brain. Why should those who commit atrocities paint the pictures in my brain? My memories are who I am, and I want to live beautifully - which would come as a surprise to anybody who knows me. I could spend a lifetime studying the words of prophet, inventors, and kindly philosophers - and barely scratch the surface.

And so now I work here where the icky stuff is constantly on the TV (Stossel excepted), and the boss is sure to fill me in on any gruesomeness I missed. To that, I say:

EW!

I'm watching the Legends and Lies (Patriots) on Fox right now. Enjoying the tech in the production, I read the book, need to make notes on Francis Marion. My family was part of the Southern insurrection (we were Redcoats LOL)

Actually my direct ancestor wore a leather coat. I wonder if I dug into it, would there be record of the British military in the conflict? I've found the military records for the Civil War (both sides) Geeze that was an ugly war and tough time to live.

I was catching up on the Justin interviews, but too much is going on right now. I had 'Tiny Bubbles' echoing in my mind earlier. I sang it to the Evo & didn't realize I knew so much of it - melody and lyrics - until I opened my yap. Evo seemed to like it. When I was younger, I thought Don Ho was singing "Tiny Buffaloes," because it makes so much more sense.

Heheh we weren't much on Don Ho around here. My parents went back to a time when Don the Beachcomber was popular, they saw him a bunch of times at a place called The Barefoot bar, across from the main showroom in Waikiki. This was like in '58 mind you. I never learned "Tiny Bubbles" alas, just can hum a few bars and the title. Dad always claimed Don Ho was a plumber, or his family was, on the construction sites around town.

Hawaii (Oahu at least) is a nice place if you get away from Waikiki. Last time I was there, I rented a car and drove around the windward side to North shore, then took H1/2 down through the central valley (all farm lands.) Went body surfing once out at Barber's Point. Saw some REAL hula at the Pearl City Mall, kids' dance school. I can still slip into "pigeon" but try not to.... it's a fun accent.

Fox is on just as background noise right now, very low.... I have a full day ahead again. The other day I heard the "trilogy" that goes with *Pines of Rome* there is a first part (Fountains of Rome) and then a part that comes after, (Festivals of Rome) very lovely. There are times I just want ALL noise off and want nothing more than a nice book and a quiet bed.... I sorta did that last night.

Well..... off to do the day's chores.

Need something light hearted... I was going through some old singles... found this one. Good memories, my mom liked this. Can't believe I still have all these 45s, some Beatles stuff too. I thought "kisses on the bottom" was hilarious until Mom paddled MINE. Laugh
