We got some really neat videos last night for this eclipse. One simply involved a large area of white... make sure the sun is falling on the white flat space, then JUST as the sun is about to slip behind the moon to totality, you will get a sort of "wave interference" thing happening. I couldn't find a video showing exactly what happens, but keep one eye on any large white spaces. Film it if you can.
This is another type of "wave interference" demo, so you get the gist. With the eclipse, it looks circular.
The other tip I got, and this is easy for kids to do. If you have a colander (spaghetti strainer) with round holes, and hold it up so the light from the sun projects through the holes, you will see shadows of the eclipse from the projections. You'll get the same effect if the sun projects through leaves on trees.
