March 7, 2014

The Moody Blues started their Timeless Flight 2014 tour Wednesday night with the first of two nights at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey.

They broke out a few songs they haven’t done in a while, including “Gypsy” off their 1969 album, To Our Children’s Children’s Children; “You and Me” from 1972’s Seventh Soojourn; and bass player John Lodge’s “Nervous” from 1981’s Long Distance Voyager. Show number-two in Morristown is tonight (Thursday), and then they’ll move down to Red Bank on the Jersey Shore on Friday and Saturday.

This first leg of the Moodies’ tour winds up on March 31st in West Palm Beach, Florida, and then they’ll head down to Miami for the second annual Moody Blues Cruise, which sets sail on April 2nd. The cruise is close to sold out, and John Lodge says you should come aboard, “I would definitely do it because it’s something very special… Who knows how long all this goes on for, and the worst thing to say afterwards is, ‘Uh, I missed it.’ Don’t miss it.” Joining the Moodies will be Roger DaltreyThe ZombiesCarl PalmerStarshipLittle River Band and many others.
