Hi Everyone,
I did some research tonight and figured out how to add an avatar. It will require a connection to WordPress.com.

Here are the steps:

1. Log in to your Moody Blues Today account: http://www.moodybluestoday.com/wp-login. You should see a black column on the left with "Jetpack", "Profile", "Dashboard," etc.
2. Click Jetpack.
3. On the right side of the screen is a button titled "Link account with WordPress.com." Click it.
4. If you already have an account with WordPress.com, then enter it here. Otherwise you will have to create an account. The account will require your e-mail address, a username (does not have to be the same as moodybluestoday.com), and a password.
5. Assuming you now have a valid username and password with WordPress.com, go to https://wordpress.com/settings/account/. (You may be directed here by the previous steps.)
6. Log into WordPress with your WordPress credentials.
7. The title of the page should say "My Account." If it does not, in the upper right you will see a profile icon next to the comment icon. Click the profile icon and select Settings. Then the page heading will say "My Account."
8. On the right side of the page under Settings, click "Public Profile".
9. Scroll down to Your Profile Photo and Sites. Click "Edit Your Photo". A new window with the heading "Upload your Gravatar/Avatar now!" will appear.
10. Select which method you want to add your avatar. (new image, webcam, etc.)
11. When you can see the photo you will be allowed to crop it. Click the "Crop and Finish!" button.
12. Choose a rating for your Avatar. (G, PG, etc.) When that is done, you will be on the "Manage Gravatars" screen.
13. Select your e-mail and the photo you want to use.
14. If you refresh your moodybluestoday.com page, you should see your avatar above your name.

How did I figure this out? Google and this Word Press forum post gave me some clues.

Good luck!

Melomaniac

8. Select which method you want to add your avatar. (new image, webcam, etc.)

Moodyballetdancer, my apologies for not updating these steps. After creating those steps I think I never returned to the page otherwise I would have updated them.

I hope these work better for you.

Thank you, Melomaniac. Very much appreciated but, as you can see, my 'gravatar' is showing in Word Press but not on MBT. Oh well.

I can't even access my WordPress account. Can't say that it really matters at this point, but thanks anyway, melomaniac! Others with avatars in the past have NOT been willing to share.

Hi Moodyballetdancer and forevermoody,

I'm sorry that didn't work out for you with WordPress. I do not have much experience with WordPress so below are only guesses at what might be different from your account than mine.

Thought 1:

  1. Log in here: http://www.moodybluestoday.com.....-login.php with your MBT login and password.
  2. Click Profile (located on the left side). When I scroll down I see the "About Yourself" and the Profile Picture section. Under that is a link that says "You can change your profile picture on Gravatar".
  3. When I click that Gravatar link I am taken to https://en.gravatar.com/ where I log in and from there I can pick a new image.

Thought 2:
If you're logged into WordPress (https://wordpress.com) I also see under Account Settings I see MBT is listed as my Primary Site. I don't know what effect there might be if you changed your profiles to make MBT as the primary site. Might be worth a try though.

Thanks for your tips!

Hi to all! Great recommendation. Your Gravatar avatar should now be associated with the email address you provided. Whenever you use that email address to comment on WordPress.com sites or any site using the Gravatar system, your avatar will be displayed. Remember that it may take some time for your new avatar to propagate across all websites using the Gravatar system. Another tip from me, if you don't want to spread your thoughts, you can use comic vector for your avatar.
