Justin can merely write, "clothes," and suddenly my day is brighter. I could call for a shrink, but I'm enjoying this too much.

as in "going off toward the joneses??" I'm actually related to the Jones family. Tough prolific bunch.

Nice quote about the Muse, stealing that.

I'm not familiar with the idiom, and my Google is explicitly saying there are no results for it. From the context, you appear to grasp the source of my horror vacuo. I'd been looking forward since Thursday night even. Ima be like:

"Ya think maybe I need help, but I know I'm all right. All right."

It's some weird Irish idiom in my family.... "Off toward the Joneses" is a way to say something "has gone south".... usually used in context of someone with a eye that goes off. Today we call it lazy eye and it's easily corrected through minor surgery. I have no idea the origin, my great-grandpa Tilly is the source I suspect (his parents were Irish immigrants)

Here, I've heard "the joneses" as a word for withdrawal. To explain, #JHQA posts had been showing up with apparent regularity. It was growing late, and, well you know what they say about getting off one's meds:

I like the stewardess dresses. The blonde here sang backup with her sister for Justin.

Yeah I guess you would go a little wall eyed when you go off your meds, thus you go "off toward the Joneses"

Busy busy here don't be offended if I vanish a bit.

How about some Q&D (questions and drivel) about the questions?

1) What can fans do to get promoters to invite Justin to tour? Do any of those online demand thingies work, if any are around anymore?
2) What will Justin be doing in the studio? Isn't everything already remastered? I was under the impression he was going to focus on SOTWS awhile.
3) He mentioned responsibilities three times. How cool. A responsible rock star. Even more reason to love him. Aaaaaaaaaaaaa-------------------aaaaaaah.
4) What do silver piggy banks have to do with Swindon?
5) Why is "I Feel Fine" capitalized and in quotes? Is it the name of a song worth hearing run 3? Where's my termite diagram?
6) I liked the bit about going to the other side of the album. The mind boggles.
7) When does Justin ever "play it wrong"? Sure, he might skip a note or something, but he never sounds bad. It took me a long while to get to where I was making my mistakes in tune. He makes everything seem so effortless, and the guitars blend into the whole thing that would sound like pretentious metaphysical nonsense if I tried to put it in words.
8) Does Justin work on cars?
9) He sounded like John Lodge for awhile, starting a song in the middle of many nights.
10) He mentioned his little room twice. I'm curious as always, whether it's a material or spiritual room, but I'll let it be. I think he's already hinted there's a do-not-disturb sign on the door.
11) Is he going to be a homebody on the next cruise? Maybe I should prepare a documentary to air my big, fat talking head on every channel. (I'm just fantasizing.)
12) Ben Rector doesn't do anything for me, but I think he favors Julie Ragins, like he could be her brother.
13) Oh, well. I'm just trying to learn how to converse with admittedly a long way to go.

I'm going to vote for Justin as a write-in for city council. I write for a local newspaper, and nobody responded to the candidate questions I sent. On the other hand, Justin had the courtesy to answer 53 questions from his fans! Il est un reve.

Pretty nice interview with Justin, really enjoyed the description of the "electrical octopus" that services his guitar for "his sound" I had no idea it was that complicated!!!! (Got out a notebook and drew a diagram!!! LOL)

Good to know his first gig.... he was age 10!! 🙂 I think he was married in the same church.

I knew he has his own chair, some years ago a roadie blabbed to a fan, he has his own special chair they pack in and pack out. If you'd seen some scuzzy backstage places I have, you'd understand too, but yes he is a tall dude and it makes sense his back would have issues. (My family is the same, lots of tall men) Everyone has to find their own way with their backs. I do weird exercises when no one is watching.

The Glass Wall is known as the "Fourth Wall" in American live theatre, and usually it's considered a bad idea to look through that. The exceptions are in like some Shakespeare plays... for example, Iago in Othello talks thru the 4th wall to the audience all the time. Usually a performance is a peep show, like television, the performers don't know you're there watching. I HAVE had Justin talk to me a couple of times over the edge of the stage, and no I'm not hallucinating. Very kind of him. He talks to other folks sometimes too I suspect, forgets himself. Which is nice.

Nice little spot, thanks for taking the time, Justin.

Oh, thank you!

Unfortunately, I'm swamped and trudging along with a heavy, stuffy head. I will look at this first thing Sunday, after I meed my deadlines and objectives (1 article that is taking a long time because I can't find an ethical way to frame it and about 12-16 briefs). This place is a mess. I wore msyelf out taking out the recycling. Then, I wore myself out taking out the trash. But now, I must run the boss about town on errands.

I'm out of my league on this thread. Fortunately, my illness has left me rather exhausted, so I can't even think about getting worked up into a jealous tizzy. Wink

Nice try, fake bot.

Anyway, did you see Justin's twitter account has called out for more questions for another Q&A? I'm tongue-tied. I don't know what to ask.

I know, I can think of a zillion silly things to ask, but they're all really mundane and stupid. I've been so busy with end of year, and paperwork, etc etc....

How about "How do you feel about the official Moody Blues on line community being taken over by bots and no one taking care of the place??" there is an EXCELLENT question. Why don't YOU ask him? He never answers MY questions!!!!

Well maybe he does, but you know what I'm saying. Those reading and disgusted with this community, go ask him what gives with MBT!!!!!!

A new solo album soon is you bet. CoolCoolCoolCoolCool

Is stress my code name? I hope not.

I will work on tolerance and add Aristotle's Poetics to my reading pile.

Well darn him I was just prowling over there today. He is reading my mind! Wink

Off to read, with dinner in hand. BRB

Well that was wonderful! Some of the questions are old ones from Twitter, but it looks like Justin rounded them all up and finished his stack of questions for this. Thank you Justin, we still love you out here.

The art answer was very nice... .I was playing last night and today with a little kiddy play my grandson is in (Lemonade, quite good music too) and since they never have help with costumes, I volunteered... never mention of money of course, nor of help, so I was thinking how can you design little one's clothing for costume effect, movement and so they don't trip over it (etc...) and grabbed a pad of paper, and pencil ,started sketching, and wondered where I'd left my watercolors. I'm no great shakes, but this thought came to me "It does feel good to be working my craft again".... I loved the Mad Hatter in the new Alice movies (so well done by Depp) and ... well it has meaning for me. Depp and the Hatter, an age-old tribute to the visual fabric artist. I've been worried about Depp lately, hope his whole family is ok.

I liked what he said too about "hit the note in the middle"... yes it's like a bulls-eye or hitting that harmonic straight on. Hard to explain if you don't sing. Again I'm not a professional, but I love to sing. It's pure liquid gold if you get the center to the note, for sure.

LOL I went into to see if I had Poetics, pulled a book off the Greco/Roman shelf (next to the Percy Jackson books) and when I put my glasses on, it was POLITICS. ugh!!! So went back and indeed found De Poetica... it actually starts off good and that might be my evening reading. Thanks for the tip, Justin! Ties right into the theatre head space all those little dancing singing children and costumes put me in. Sigh... happy visions of dancing, poetry spouting Greeks in long tunics and korthuni. Wonder if Justin ever made it to Epidarous where they held the poetic festivals in ancient Greece? Coolest theatre in the whole world.

Very good questions people are sending in too! I can't hope to come up with the good stuff like that. He's right about the book at the end of the day, it calms you down and gets your mind to a happy place.... I'm glad he finds the time to read, because lately I've been so darn busy during the day I don't have time but for a couple of pages, and I fall asleep. Darn it, Lord John Gray just isn't getting finished like he should.

I don't know what's going on with Depp. I don't know that much about his personal life, and from what I've heard, I'm not hip with his politics, but he is one awesome actor. I don't watch that many movies, but I saw him twice. Once was at a laundromat (Willy Wonka) and the other time was visiting somebody from church (Pirates). Both times, I thought he was a great actor, and I was astonished to find out it was the same guy. Then, he was all drunk at some awards ceremony, and I thought, "Wow! He's great at playing drunk, too!"

I can't think off-hand of anybody else that I really thought was a great actor. It's like drivers. I think I've only thought, "Wow! That guy is a great driver!" twice in my life. One dude was in a parking lot. We were in a tight space with only one way out. We had to rotate our cars together like a binary star. It occurred to us what needed to be done instantly and we did it. The other time, the guy seemed to have good command of what other people were trying to do, getting out of the way, helping weaker drivers, etc.

Anyway, I looked up a copy of Aristotle's Poetics online and read a few pages and thought, "This is good." It was stirring my brain from a long slumber. I would much prefer to be reading it, but I've got about 80 pages left of my police-and-racism book to finish.

Not a singer, I didn't know what Justin meant about hitting the note in the middle. At first, I thought he meant don't be sharp or flat, and I remembered times he was so right-on with his singing it was just thrilling. But then I wondered why anybody should want to sing sharp or flat. Then, the second sentence is presented as a restatement, and he's talking about songs that has such feeling, words that have such meaning, dreams that never die; and, "Oh, can you feel it tonight." I sure can, but then I started hearing in my mind the pop song, "Why Don't You Meet Me in the Middle," and thinking about the time a DJ at a radio station I've mentioned here before was out sick. The guy substituting for him said the guy was out with constipation and dedicated, "Stuck in the Middle with You" to him. I may be hopeless.

On the art question, I'm not going to pretend I understand what the Q or the A person is saying. I thought everybody liked some form of art. Art is capitalized. Since art is open to interpretation, I will assume they're talking about what we discussed elsewhere, that spiritual high that art can reach. I am suddenly feeling less incurious. This, too, is good. Je veux chercher le je ne sais quois.

On the trained musician thing, I observed a long ago that all the good guitarists, for the most part, were self-trained. If they weren't, it's likely they would all sound the same as their teachers. I always regret not pursuing more formal lessons on piano. I stink on fingering, so my muscle memory doesn't kick in because I'm hitting the notes with different fingers each time. Sometimes, I even turn my hand upside-down, which I heard one of the Marx Brothers did to be comedic.

As close as I got to a similar wavelength was yesterday I was thinking about how I used to always want to live in Arizona, but have now become a fan of rich biodiversity. I was thinking if I went to Arizona, I would have to live in an oasis, because, in my paradise, there would have to be date palms, right?
