I just received a package of fan stuff for a couple Justin shows I did not attend. (Boo on me.) I think I know what to do with the T-shirts, but what is the highest and best use for all those little trinkets?

I don't know. If you have a pick tin, I'll buy THAT off you, but the other stuff I'm clueless about. You might post a "for sale" list over on our mbay section on this group. I've been meaning to do that myself.

I really want the pick tin. I have some VIP packages coming too, but don't know when they'll get here.

I was mostly wondering, "What is this stuff?" Thanks for identifying a pick tin. But why would you want one? Isn't pick plastic more weather-resistant than the tin?

I don't know that I want to sell anything. I might be persuaded to give you something as a present for a very special friend, but that would mess up the complete sets for dumping back on the merch dude. I'm pretty sure Justin does not approve of Ebay, so that would definitely not be an option. If I keep the stuff (something I should like to emulate my big hero in shedding) out of the market, I create scarcity thus driving up the price of the items. Then, if the Justin Hayward people have anything warehoused, they can sell it for millions one day and make up for that bad record contract. OK, so I'm about as delusional about the economy as the CBO.

I blather.

Maybe we can trade. I have bags, a nice tea tin with MB on it, tee shirts... water bottles. Yes I have all that merchandize stuff too. Shall I type up a list? I REALLY want the tins. Time was when those were really high usage for (dum dum dahhhh) joints! (I don't do that anymore however) There's a poster too isn't there? Gosh don't pitch that in the trash!!!

Maybe I could make a prom dress out of the trinkets. Are the joints made out of titanium? I feel like I'm gonna need some replacements ere long.

Well never throw away Moody merchandize! Give to a Moody friend, yes.... I think that's the point. I didn't care for Ebay when I did it.... and Amazon is about to get dumped by me too, not worth it.

for example: I ordered the PBS package here a few months ago, and got a duplicate on the Spirits Live DVD. It was sealed, and I put it in the "summer sale" box, I maintain an account on Amazon and sometimes sell books I can get money for. Not much mind you, after shipping and Amazon takes a huge chunk for fees, it's barely worth it. However, in this case I was hoping to pass the DVD along to some deserving soul. Well I sold it, shipped it (stuffed in a post card of a cruise I had laying around because again, I like to send stuff out to other fellow Moody fans).

Well I bleeped up! This dweeb who got the thing wanted the CD not the DVD!!! (both have the same name, I was tired and punched the wrong button, wrong listing etc etc). GEEEZE if I could only afford the CD, ordered it used (and sealed) got the DVD I'd be over the moon!!! (I have yet to see a use for the live CD, seriously, the songs are all the same) Anyway I'm not the buyer, I messed up so I just gave the guy a refund and he got a free DVD. Confused

So, no I don't like on line sales....

I know you like to send fans stuff. Every day I see another shiny cupid thingy from that one mailing.

I like tickets and meets-n-greets. Other than that, I think the cobalt blue shot glasses were a great idea. If I were into paraphernalia, I'd see an optician to make me a headset and walk around in a blue world. Too much! You don't know what that color does to me.

Maybe they should send around blue shot glasses with the merchandize packet, instead of some of the strange stuff I've seen. This bunch has no problem finding a use for those!!!! And yes the blue was very pretty I agree. You'd love my new car. It's an electric blue. I wanted indigo blue, but had to take that one.

If you don't want the posters, I'll sell them on line and give you the profits. I saw one framed, and it was rather arty.

No, no, no. We do not want to sell anything. I merely wanted to identify the objects. Hopefully I'll see you somewhere on tour.

My email is grandecorniche[at]yahoo[dot]com, and any tall, blond musician with the intitials JDH and/or DJH may use it. (This set "Ain't It Time" from Chicago off in my head. I would have tried to post the video except the lead singer is blond, and I don't know how tall he is. I did not want to send a mixed signal.)

As for the stuff, I'll keep it in the car, and hopefully it won't be too dogged before a chance rendezvous.

As for the email, I'm still waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I'm gonna be an old lady and waiting, and waiting, . . .

I'd be hesitant to use the key chains. My keys were stolen at one concert with a non-Moodies key chain. I had left my purse in the car. I had probably everybody on the casino's payroll that night looking through garbage cans. It seemed to have been an intentional swiping. It wasn't too much of an inconvenience. I only had to stay awake all night in a casino with smoke drying out the eyes. Locksmiths didn't do 24-hour service in that town. I lost some time from work and emptied everything in my purse for a partial payment for the locksmith who had to make a new key. I'm happy whoever got the keys to both boss' offices. They probably have more need of them than I.

What would a fan do for a Justin key chain?

I've only had a notebook stolen at a concert, by a very warped fan. Long story. I keep everything tied to me at shows. It's very scary now, if you have my key, all you have to do is press a few buttons and the "correct" car either flashes lights or honks horn. It had a press outside combo too, which I need to program soon.... so I can lock the keys in the car, and still get in!

Maybe the Justin key chains, if held correctly, will lead one to him?

OK. That was a creepy comment. I leave it so everybody out there - fans, future employers, whoever - knows I obsess over meeting Justin.

Yes it WAS creepy. You've met him, and with enough money, can meet him again, anyone can. He's just a dude.

Back to the "fan stuff"........... The Bish over on FB was griping about the merchandise too. I'm not sure where they're coming at with that stuff. Why not just sell the tickets as "premium fan VIP tickets" and forget the merchandize.

At least thirty years ago in Detroit, scalping laws prohibited ticket sales much above face. Therefore, the scalpers got around the law by offering a $200 doll or cigarette package with face-value tickets. Since these people sell nationwide, I'm sure the junk is to keep their noses clean in all states, which surely have quirky nuances for scalpers.

Maybe we could have one of those contests to see who can do the most creative thing with the junk - who can recycle it best, or help the children the most?

I'm sorry. I'm in a terrible mood. The boss' friend came by to chitchat for an hour. He would have stayed longer had I not blown him out of the room with my rage. He was hitting me with those arguments about things are as they seem except when they aren't, and I'm the arbiter of when they are and aren't, and you're always wrong. Among one of his great points was that the Bible teaches that Christians hate God. I think I killed my soul over that one.

Well he's full of it I agree. Bible teaches you (if anything) that God is beyond our reach and control, so you may as well do what's good for you. He was trying to get your goat, and was probably trying to flirt or something. KissConfused

"Thou art God. All that groks is God" -- *Stranger in a Strange Land* (Heinlein)

OK not diving into a theological discussion here, but they send you weird stuff. I like the journals, I have 6 of those lovely black journals, sent one to a friend (now I have five) and they are useful, I plan to work out some story lines in one like a real journal this September. I dunno, I just have a collection of it, and will either give it away to Moody friends, or sell it on line. Water bottles are really weird IMHO.

That DOES make sense tho, "why the merchandize"..........
