Stats are for robots.... but it's ok Martingale, just dive in. We are harmless, only we do tend to stand on our heads in the bathtub.

Once upon a time someone tried to turn me into a clinical psychologist so I could compete in the academic world with other cut throat mental researchers (a fruitless enterprise now that I think about it.) I can do the stats (thank you) but mostly they turn that stuff over to computers these days. Someone is always impressed by stats. IQ, error rate, all that stuff you have to measure to get paid government grants, it's all valid.

But while math has a beauty all it's own, there is a lot to be said for veering wildly off the tracks, and doing as you darn well please in this Universe. Chasing rabbits off the pages of the books, that sort of thing. That is what we have turned into here, and the bots just add to the fun.

Your homework assignment is to look up the term "martingale" for a definition. *I* know what it is, but not too many math philosophers have dabbled in costume history.

After I left the city council meeting tonight, I walked past the bank of newspaper stands and noticed on the front page of the one for which I was at the meeting, "Lost Chord." I stopped to focus my eyes and then saw "Moody Blues." Then, I stopped to focus my brain. It turns out, the front-page headline was about a cover band. The article went on for three pages.

It made me think maybe it wasn't so fetched to have considered getting a press pass to cover Nina Simone at the R&RHoF. At this rate, I should have asked if I could get a press pass to cover the Moodies. Who knew my editor had his priorities so much in order?

I had a super strange dream last night, not really but I was back at Chichen Itza, only it was night, and very black night too. I could see the pyramid, it was just sundown, and I was looking for my guide. (I really DID wander away from the group there, thankfully found my way back... it's that sort of place.) Anyway I could see this figure in the distance, a huge forum space there and I was trying to yell "Are you my guide??" but I wasn't getting an answer.

There was a flaccid rubber ball nearby, so thinking in terms of the great Ball Court there, I tried to toss it to the guide to get a response, I think he dove for it, but I couldn't see very well by this time. It went muddled, and I remember thinking it was falling dark, I was surrounded by jungle outside the ruins, and that place has vampire bats. Long ago I read this novel *Nightwing* and raised the hair on my head, all sorts of weird Indian mysticism in it. (They tried to make a movie of it but it bombed.) I woke up about that time, but some part of me is still back there wandering around in the ruins I think.

Believe me that guide we had on that trip was very worth dreaming about, but he was too far away to make out if it was a spirit, or a real person. Maybe I'll go back there tonight and ask the bats what the heck that dream was all about!!!!

I dreamed last night a guy driving in front of me was weaving and doing other dangerous stunts because he was expecting me to be judgmental because he was gay. He crashed. I arrived at his dog first, and he was stiff, so I proceeded to the driver, and he was a mess and barely alive. I called 911, but I couldn't figure out what the cross street was. There were four street signs that all were not normal street signs (size, color, font). A crowd had assembled by then, and nobody knew the name of the street.

I think this is the first time in my life I ever dreamed of anything dying.

It's getting dark in here. Maybe I should dream with my eyes open and the lights on.
