I don't think I can smuggle poppy seeds into AZ or CA. I'm in enough trouble with the law already - speeding with a Romney sticker through a liberal state and all.

I commend you for your initiative. When I'm not going to Moodies shows, I"m at work, which means standing or sitting around waiting for command and control instructions for 17 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whimpy me, doesn't feel right with this six-hour-a-night sleep gig with no time for naps. I only bathe twice a week now because I'm too lazy to pry myself from the mattress.

I would love to sew. I have a project collecting dog hair in the car. I was going to make a gift for somebody, but, as they say, HA.

I missed the Imelda comment. I own 2.5 pairs of shoes. I suppose that means Justin hates me because he doesn't like stuff. Wait. Evo was alone in the car today. I may have fewer. I used to be an Imelda with 11 pairs, and then along came Heather. The boss bought four pairs of shoes today. I felt good inside, like maybe he will feel good about himself and want to get out and go stylin' and profilin'.

It looks like I shall have to catch up on my Justin studies tomorrow to find out what was said about shoes.

OK, so it's another bad day with my head screwed on sideways.

I'm confused myself about the recent interviews. ONE of them had a very cute comment, Justin claims to be a shoe collector (he's been known to totally pull interviewer's legs off too) anyway he claims to have a vintage collection of retro shoes. And here I thought he'd thinned down to one garage of belongings. Like a Justin cave, and that was it. And a suitcase of clothes, and a suitcase of pills and potions. As you can tell it's been a weird week in the Justin world.

Shoe collections were one of our big things when I was still working at the fabric store. My friend Nancy and I used to make Imelda Marcos jokes all the time. Mrs. Marcos was the First Lady of the Phillipean Islands, and had a collection of like over 200 shoes (if not more) she claimed it was because shoes were a huge industry there. Yeah. (my mom said she actually met Imelda once, and the old gal was very gracious.... gave her a big smile.) Me mum really liked shoes too. I was dragged through many shoe stores as a child, and got a little traumatized if the truth be known.

Another lady who loves shoes is JK Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter stuff. I saw her interviewed and she said the one serious lifestyle change she made when she hit the big time, was to indulge in buying any shoe she wanted.

OK. I found the sh-sh-sh-shoe people article. That was a very nice writeup. I like how he described the "Sur la Mer" era, because that's how I feel about it, too. Rather than buying shoes, I'd better invest in a thick petticoat. Justin might like transparency in the audience, but . . .

. . . Eekie no do!

Does he wear the women's shoes?

Oddly, me mum sent me an email about shoes yesterday. She told about the time she couldn't decide between two pairs of black dress/work shoes, so she bought both. She particularly liked the ones with the T-straps. She wore them to work, and this dude wanted to demonstrate a new and amazing grocery sack. My mother, the model and secretary for the top dog in the firm, was asked to hold the bag while the boss man dropped a heavy can of pineapple juice in. It went straight to through to my mother's foot. She never wore the T-straps again, and her feet have been messed up since. The moral of the story is - don't throw pineapple juice cans even if Justin has nice shoes.

I confess to screaming at this post. I'm sure someone heard me in the next state.........

I've seen the pictures of the last one at the link.... that was High Gothic era.... the toes were called "points" and yes quite the fashion.

I've heard it said that Brigham Young can be quoted as saying "if pisspots on the head were in fashion, women would wear them"...........

:)

I don't know what vintage shoes are, but if Justin likes them, I'll gladly share - after I get some odor eaters. I imagine a showroom of groupies getting the same bright idea. "Is that part of Cirque du Soliel?"

Ooh, ooh. I am suddenly overcome with a huge urge to get back on tour. Giddy, giddy. Joy, joy. When I see Justin, the whole cosmos is perfect.

I was just watching *The Aviator* the other night (historical fiction about Howard Hughes) and noticed a couple of the ladies had on some VERY cool shoes.......... shoes will "make" a movie, it's a fine detail a lot of costumers miss.

This is supposed to be a seasonal thread! Saw ducks flying in formation last night! And it's a wee bit nippy this morning. I hope we aren't into Fall already! Who knows, in this place! Whatever the weather, the lawn seems to love it, I think I'll have to crack out the riding mower again this weekend, and make sure the yard is trimmed up. :P I swear I'm going to brick it in!

Again, everything is peaceful and airbrushed. The allergies have left, but I caught something that is going around. It was hard to get off the floor. I told myself it was punishment for declining a free Justin ticket for last night.

Thanks to the kindly person who made the offer, and I'm so sorry I wanted to buy rent more than petrol. Perhaps one day I will be enlightened enough to move under a bridge. I must first find a way not to smell when I go to concerts.

Until then . . .

It's time for me to mow AGAIN. Sheesh.............. if I don't, and if I leave this place it will look like a jungle when I come back. Sigh, to the yard tomorrow.................. no living under bridges now. You need to move out of that place there. I have a spare room, but you'll have to wash your own dishes and clothes! I don't suppose you can drive a bus? They're hiring locally. Good union wages.......... Laugh

OH good news, I found the red poppies, blooming right next door through the fence!!!! :)

I saw my first fireflies a couple days ago. Last night, a green one slowly flitted up the window. I like fireflies because they are light, they hang out on warm, summer nights, and you only see their light when they fly upward - well 99.995% of the time at least. Sometimes they go horizontally, but I've never seen them fly downward while lighted.

The days are warm, the leaves are pretty, the aromas of flowers are heady. But wait. Something's missing. Oh, yeah. I is-posed to be in sunny Southern California basking in the euphoric essence of Justin Hayward. Hey, we all love imperfectly. The important thing is that we love - spoken like a pompous schizophrenic. It's wonderful back home thinking of the peace all y'all vacationing on the Left Coast are enjoying.

It was TIME to mow the lawn today, no way around it! The pleasure and curse both of living where I do is the green stuff grows quite well. We're a designated rain forest.

Anyway I have this monster pine tree in the back yard which is "poorly" and I decided to rake out all the pine needles that have gathered under it for 13 years now. Gotta be unhealthy, needles are acidic. I took 10 wheelbarrows (plus all the dog poop lurking in it) to the side yard and filled in where the dog runs. Got down to good dirt. Much cleaner. I have dreams of making a landscape under that pine of ferns and trillium. Must think about how to do it tho.

THEN after finding all the weird stuff lurking in the grass (toys and other delights left by the dog) I got the riding mower out and went to work. It was wet, and had been sprinkling on and off all day... but was nice. I'm telling you the band JUST made it out of here in time, the weather grew ugly as they did Seattle, and it turned today.... by the time I got done making hay in the back yard, and was half way through the front, a real downpour happened (toad choker, frog strangler etc etc) I rapidly whacked the last few dandelions (some escaped) and drove sopping and soaking back to the back yard clapped said mower into the trailer. MAN what is this, the first of summer and this sort of downpour???? YUCK.

I guess I'll just be forced to stay in and organize my notes, and keep writing. Laugh Dishes are done, and chicken salad made, so don't have to do the kitchen for a while.

Hugs out there in Moody land.......... it's cold here and my fingers can barely type!!!

Eek.

I'm enjoying the great outdoors. The windows are open to let the glorious evening in. We had to do that in spite of the North Carolinian tradition of chilling buildings to 56oF tonight because I burnt the boss' potatoes. Whee!

Dog-pog and I went on a three hour walk in the woods. The frail leaves of spring are gone, and now just about every maple leaf I saw was polka-dotted with bug bites. I've been wondering where the fireflies are. Last year, it rained a lot, and so they were only out about three or four days, trying to mate like crazy. Maybe they didn't do so well. Then, I saw my first june bug in about 25 years.

I'm not exactly happy about not having Justin shows to see this week, but I don't know how to fix that. Oh, I am so boring, I am putting myself and the dog to sleep.

I was just staring through the screen at the dew twinkling on the soft, green leaves. It is very beautiful with bad astigmatism.

I can't find my hedge trimmers or I'd be out there right now. Will force myself to sort more photos. I hate sorting photos. I really do.

It depends. I remember falling into a deep depression after what may have been my last trip to Continental Europe. I had the maps all over the floor, and the photos I'd taken, trying to retrace my every step to the tune of overspiced bean dishes. The memory of the garlic wafts through my mind as I type. It was like there was something between the recesses of my memory that I had to discover. It was a nice melancholy, with good thoughts of what could-shoulda, but trapped in an empty life.

I'm seriously thinking of going to the UK next year to see some Moody shows, but I won't see many.... I mostly want to see OTHER things relating to books I've read, or my family history. That is a long long ugly flight, no matter how you fly, first class or steerage. And I really hate flying... .

This tour was grueling as a fan. Stuff is still rolling in............ will talk off line about it.

Feeling like your life is empty is just a symptom of depression. I was so tired last night, and felt like that............. nothing and nobody in my life BOOO HOOO... then I just went and collapsed in bed (after doing a really good I Ching too......... it's almost like the Oracle is telling me "cheer up! Things will turn out ok in the end!" I have a very nice friendly Oracle).

In fact maybe it was the Holy Ghost in disguise!!! ;) No bears snuffling at the door last night, thankfully.

But things were much better this morning! It's a bright gorgeous day here in Seattle........... fluffy clouds, the birds are singing.........

Get some sleep. It will all be ok. Focus on the good stuff.... it's only post Moody depression.

BTW I got up the pictures of you dancing in the fountain, go over to my site and look for "Grady Gammage" Auditorium
