Major toad choker last night, and a big juicy lightning bolt that lit up my retina with my eyes closed. Impressive.
Blog and newsgroup punctuation does not count.
Time to go to bed and read a good book.

I think I woke up in my "Okie persona" this morning..... I was humming this song. I remember when my Uncle Joe sent this to us, he was city planner for Muscogee at the time, so it was a big PR thing for them. (We lived in California) I also remember about six months after this was a huge hit, Merle Haggard was busted for weed. Hee Haw...
Anyway I'm licking my wounds... in true Okie style, the good Lord has seen fit to give me neighbors with barking dogs who won't let me go in the back yard without blessing me out barking, a lot. Someone else on my community FB was crying about her neighbors' dogs barking and I started venting a bit. In 17 years I've had neighbors who are obviously feeling people, they adopt pound puppies, bring them home, and then turn them into the back yard and ignore them. Dogs bark if they see me in MY yard.... They get a lot of baths when I'm watering out back. I wound up getting kicked off the group!!! Well I didn't need them anyway. So I just put up with the barking. They USED to doo doo on my lawn, but after I scooped THAT up and dumped it on their driveway, they got the message.
They say that domestic fights between neighbors are some of the worse, legally, cops hate to get involved. Sigh. I guess I'm just an Okie down deep underneath.
Time to go do something else for the day other than roost on line.
I took the passive-aggressive approach with The EVO! She's been kicked off the property by the landlord twice for her barking. Both times, the boss was in a nursing home. I remember throwing her in the back seat of the car and taking her to church with me to see if I could find anybody with a home. It worked out well, as a friend had a house with a fence, and he just happened to have a neighbor who loves Shelties. The latter family kept her until the boss returned home and negotiated The EVO! back. The only condition was she not be allowed out of the house on premises, so I get to drive her to her walks.
With the barking, it annoyed me terribly when I started working here, as I always fantasized there would be a time when I went back to playing piano and writing music. I'm not good at either, but I enjoy doing them. Anyway, on top of being generally loud, when I bend over to pick things up, a common practice in a home with Parkinson's, she thinks whichever of my ears is closest is a microphone for her 160dB cracks. I eventually told myself to just accept that my hearing was going to get destroyed, and then it didn't bother me. I recall one day sitting at church pounding on the C above middle C and not being able to hear it at all. I really don't enjoy listening to music electronically, as I have to turn the volume so high, the bass is thumping and the treble is tss-tssing to great annoyance. I have problems hearing cars drive up behind me and stuff like that, too.
That said, The EVO! is adorable and I fear I don't spend enough time with her. She'll live her short doggie life and be gone before I know it.
But I can still hear the music at concerts all right. Ha ha I still think the DoFP concerts were too loud, but the volume did help burn the memories into my mind.
I've listened to one too many loud jets in my time. I'm kinda sensitive to loud noises..... earplugs do help. Sometimes I wear them to work in my yard. I threw a large bone to one of the dogs a few weeks ago, and he seems inclined to bark less now (like "you might be ok after all") but the other dog just barks on, until I hose it down. I bet they wonder how their dogs keep getting wet, they're pretty stoned neighbors.
I was thinking about dogs... I do love dogs, a lot, but they take time. They are perfect for families with kids, 'cause the kids take on the training, and dogs are smart, if the child says "don't bark" they often won't. But if you work, or are elderly, often you just won't have time for the dog, to correct their bad behavior (barking) and too many people are just like that. Dog is left in the yard with no one there, gets bored and barks. Neighbors annoyed. That's why I have cats now, I can lock them in and they use the litter box, no worries. Alas I am not queen of the world and cannot control everyone who has yapping dogs.
I don't drink anymore, but I feel like this song right now. I feel out of time often. I'm just old and grumpy now. Less willing to put up with the tricks of modern times. They tangle all my thoughts like ivy. Things change.
I loved "A Dog's Purpose." I watched it without sound, and I think it was better that way.
Anyway, where The EVO! and I have been walking lately there is this weird thing. Dogs like to pound the pavement with their front paws as they bark, kind of like hitting the drums and screaming. I've seen three dogs do it there and nowhere else. The first time we saw one, I told The EVO! to hurry past him before he broke a foot.
I am hearing self-condemnation as I wonder why employers won't be more clear about what they want. It's easier to do stuff when they tell me. I'm dealing with, "We're changing, but we don't know when. We might want you to do this, but we might want you to do something else, etc."
I love old music... my mom made me sing a lot of it when I was a kid. We did George M! in summer stock once.... quite fun. We all knew the music. Anyway I found this gem.... I'm not pro war, but this is very famous... and it's really George himself.
He even sounds like Jimmy Cagney. My Dad and I were watching Yankee Doodle Dandy once on TMC, and dad said "we were all shocked when this movie came out... Cagney was always a tough guy in the movies. We didn't know he could dance!" LOL. Pretty cool Cagney's own sister danced in the movie with him, as Cohan's sister.
I'm embroiled in putting together costumes for some little tykes.... long story but I need to make a red cape for yes Little Red Riding Hood. Trying to scale down a kinsale cloak pattern, the kid is little bitty (and quite cute) .... blblbl. Anyway I have an ear worm of this, and always liked it.
BTW fair warning.... if the OCD really goes into overload, you might get a huge flood of Outlander interviews and clips.... there's a fair stash of them over on youtube. Generally I stick to my bedtime reading for the World of Outlander, but ......
It'll burn yer brain.
Bah..... Baaaaa????
I'm listening to Chopin's Etudes by various pianists and feeling jealous. Should I listen to Moodies, Justin would, per Aristotle, cathart that base emotion from betwixt my ears.
My deadline (for the job about which I was whining for not giving me specifics) is now fast upon me, so the remainder of the week shall be a train wreck. If you don't hear from me, please know there is no cure for my blissful crush on Justin.
I go sweepy-bye, now. Sweet dreams, y'all.
Etudes are lovely. Good choice.
I too seem to have a lot of work stacked up, including the IRS wanting more money. I don't mind giving them money, but they haven't put out good instructions for education credits, so I'm going to call them and ask for an audit. I'm straight up and honest about my money.... I just wish the people who developed their forms were too. Pray for me, the wait is long on their customer service line.
Just saying I would be happy to share ALL my current obsession on Outlander. They are very naughty people, I don't usually post as it might offend.
One must find a balance to cure the OCD.
Thanks, but I'll pass on Outlander.
About 30 years ago, I was a nanny for a summer. I earned $200 a month for food and gas, and lived on premises. I "shopped the question" with the IRS, as some agents were of the opinion my income included fair-market value for the lakefront property. I should have paid it, except it was impossible to pull what would have been owed out of what had already been spent.
Back when I went line-by-line, I found the IRS instructions clearer than other bureaucratic publications, which abuse the English language. My issue Sunday pertained to an instance of words not meaning what they mean but something else. I go tilt in environments like that. If words are not to be taken literally, then who decides what they mean, and how am I supposed to guess if forward means backward or sideways or up or down or green?
I hope to have my number from the IRS very soon. It may force lifestyle changes to say the least.
I've been listening to groups for this month's A&E briefs and went on a Muscle Shoals kick, which I enjoyed.

The problem there was the other party was sincere and trying to do the right thing, so if we look at matters of the heart, she was trying to do good, and I was stirring up contention, so I was wrong - but it felt like a big, fat lie to play along, and I couldn't bring myself to it.
Me has to write 24 briefs today. It doesn't sound like much, but when they are supposed to cover business news in an area that has no business news, it is very difficult for my wee brain to find material. Now, I shall shut up and get to work so I can research and write the briefs when things settle down here. Whine, whine, whine. I hate my passive aggression.
Re-did the IRS thing. I made TWO mistakes, and it looks like they might owe me MORE.... my letter was probably generated by computer. So I'll try and call them after the 4th. Long wait on the 800 line I'm afraid.
In honor of James Morrison, who left the earth on July 3, 1971. One more 4th of July goes by with it's memories....
