We ran out of funding. Now, I work as an unskilled domestic. Why do science when nobody listens? I could tear my brain out for fifteen years trying to figure something out, and everybody else on the planet would read only a paragraph in a pop-sci magazine and know infinite universes more than me about it. There's more money in being micromanaged with forty-five minute repeated courses on subjects like organizing silverware and making a cup of instant hot cocoa. Ask me if I care.

The falling out wasn't dramatic. Real physicists don't do drama.

It's kind of like liberty. You can fight for it, but there's no point in giving people what they don't want - unless you're a stalker and you know exactly how to lord it over somebody.

It's time to go drown in the Ha that's keeping me sane.

OOO tanks for da tunes, Sphinx............ very nice.... glad to see you out of hibernation! I'm sorry you're stuck in LA, my son and I were just discussing what a miserable place Florida is, and the south in general. Tho there are some good places in rural AL I agree.

There is a decided difference in Mr and Dr Spock.......... you must do your homework... Cool pure energy indeed..........

oook. I might need a calculator for this one....

this one's kinda color-coded, but it might still work...

well, I love the job...that's the upside to it. Wish I could take it home with me (my home's in Alabama....)

.....Oh I'll speak my Southern English just as natural as I please
I'm in the heart of Dixie, Dixie's in the heart of me
And someday when I make it, when love finds a way
Somewhere high on Lookout Mountain I'll just smile with pride and say that my

Home's in Alabama, no matter where I lay my head
My home's in Alabama, Southern born and Southern bred
Southern born and Southern bred....Wink

I'm trying to reverse engineer the plot in which Mr. Spock recited that line. (I'm reading it in Leonard Nimoy's voice.)

My ancestral home (Native American) is around Alex City. Place called Hillabee. I've enjoyed rural Alabama the few times I've passed through there. We go back to pre Revolutionary War in that region.

Here's something good about winter.

It ends.

I had a squirrel in my yard today, and a raccoon a few nights ago. All out of hibernation. The Moon is full. Time for Spring!

In just over a month, some lucky folks will get to see the Moody Blues. In two months, winter will turn to spring, and then we in the Northern Hemisphere will start getting warm.

I like snow.... I'm a slug at heart, but guilt over rides it usually and I have to get up and be active. Anyway when it snows, it's SO quiet, and there is no sense in doing anything except stay in, eat and read books. Alas we just have rain, rain and then some more rain here. Ya'all take it easy there, I can see the weather report!

I'm cabin bound right now because the dermatologist made my face look like a battle zone, and I hope it looks better tomorrow so I can get out in the classroom. At least the rain let up long enough to go for a walk.... when it pelts down, no matter how thick the parka, you get cold and soaked. Kiss

I know this is sacrilege, but I'm very glad I'm not doing the cruise, and have other Moody shows to see. I left nothing in Florida or the Caribbean. And besides, I don't know any Moody fans from the eastern seaboard, and it's an eastern cruise. I also have other things I'd rather be doing on a trip. Right now I'm contemplating going to Macchu Piccu over the Christmas vacation (because weather will be warm then!) and maybe next year Disneyland or Tikal. There are so many other things to see besides the Moodies over and over and over. Cruises just aren't that exciting.

I do hope very much all the folks going have a lovely time getting warm and cozy on that nice big boat, and getting out of the deep freeze.

Hey, I just lost my post. I said I can't wait to see Justin at Machu Picchu, but I must needs remain stateside awhile and pay taxes.

Then, I gave you this nice song from one of my favorite all-time non-Moodies albums:

Having a de ja vu moment.

I hate to gloat, but the weather turned lovely here today and glory BE the sun came out and the white fluffy clouds were beautiful! The little hooligans got to go out and play thankfully. It's a rough week when it rains non stop and it's solid indoor recess.

For my walk tonight, the moon is just shy of being full........... and shining on the water of the Sound. The water is like a mill pond, and the ferry coming in from Seattle was gorgeous, like a crystal jewel

Sorry you guys are up to your hips in snow, but think of how clean and wonderful the streams will be, full of water. I especially hope Al Gore has to shovel lots and lots of snow.

It was 17oF this morning when I tried to walk the Evo, who wouldn't cooperate. It reminded me of Easter in Michigan.

Evo is a smart dog. Don't make her go out too far..... you might try luring her with a milk bone. Sometimes that works for Micco. I'm listening to Morning House call on Fox, they say your heart is under super stress in this weather, so stay good and hydrated and warm. The usual people are out shoveling snow and having heart attacks I guess, poor devils. We let the snow melt off the walkways around here, I don't mind wading through it. Hope you have some wellies.

I agree totally. One reason to move to North Carolina was to never shovel snow, and another was to never put snow tires on the car. But, alas! The boss had me shovel the walks yesterday. I mean, he didn't tell me to, but he said he wanted to get somebody to, and everybody on the mass media was telling everybody to stay off the roads. I inferred . . . It was about 12" deep, and I had to shovel it in layers knowing full well more snow and wind would be on the way, and the thin layer would melt and glaze over.

Evo was a good dog. She finally took care of a day and a half of deferred business. Besides lunging at drivers struggling to navigate on the ice, she bucked up and made a courageous jump across a crevasse formed by a creek. I had to jump across a few times and then leash her up to jump with me. I've never seen her chicken out of anything before. So, now I've emboldened her to jump across crevasses to bark and lunge at people. It's good I never had kids, right?

The snow's all right when I bundle up. I must say, this is the first year I ever felt warm outside in the cold. I attribute thigh-high knee socks for one thing, and then my parents let me take my high school coat with me on one of my last visits. It's nice, waterproof, long, and warm. Then, I have my mom's hat, which she let me take at the last trip. I was just looking at it and thinking, "Wow! That hat has been around since the 1950s, and it's still in great condition." It's nice and warm with a button under the chin - but no sooner did I have that thought about its longevity, I found the Evo eating the fur-like trim off it. Now, I have a white bald spot in front. As for the wellies, I never found any online, but, in lieu of going to Israel, I spent my gas money on a couple books to review (in lieu of a travelogue for the local rag) and - a pair of nice, warm Totes. Ooh, how I hate packing snow in boot fur - but it beats being knee-deep with only raveled sneakers - or sparkly stilettoes for that matter.

Yeah shoveling snow is old school. If you leave the snow, it won't ice over and you won't slip then. No sense in shoveling until it stops, then sand or salt it. I walk across the lawn when snowed in... much safer better traction. Shoveling is for when you're two feet under. I've also found snow shovels work wonderfully on soggy sidewalk moss, and that's what mine usually gets used for.

Well you sound ok to me. Evo sounds bored, ask the Boss for some money to get her a toy. Dog toys are fun!

Don't go where the Huskies go
And don't eat the yellow snow....

But I am trying to help her not be an extension of my vinegar. One of her lessons is, "Wick, wag, wuv." She has potential to bring sunshine to all she encounters. I just need to pray harder to figure out how.

Dogs chew. It makes them happy. You just have to outguess what they plan to chew on next. Large bones, fuzzy toys. You should see Micco take a big bone down to parade rest.

Evo has a trunk of toys with which she will not play. She did have a Sponge Bob Square Pants (sp?). I hid smelly liver treats in his shorts, and she played with that. I was telling the boss about it one day when the computer repairman, Joe, was here. The boss thought I said I was hiding the treats in Joe's trousers. I still buckle over with laughter at the thought.

She likes chewing on housekeepers, too, as she has bitten the last two.

Back on subject, I like that it is getting warmer.
