It's always fun to check in here to find out what I'm thinking. I only wish I weren't so offensive. Right now, I'm watching the candidates debate:
OK back to the classical. A little Richard Strauss..... Tiil Eulenspeigel............... and his merry pranks. This was really nice driving home to...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Till_Eulenspiegel
I went looking for Till Eulenspiegel, and found he was a merry prankster (I believe you wanted to share something of your Polish heritage? This would qualify) I love middle European fairy tales, always delightful to find a new character or story. Like Baron Munchausen..... enjoy the read!
Listening to this right now... it's marvelous, conducted by the composer.... and this is during the war I think too. Germans had a very high regard for classical music.... I think VPO must be the Vienna orchestra.

What is very very weird.... I stumbled into a JRR Tolkien article tonight on line, and found a mention of "Abingdon" which means nothing to me. Then I tracked down this Till Eulenspeigel and found "Two Angry Women of Abingdon"..................... jeeee!!!! talk about some synchronicity! So I'm off to look that up now............
It was written in the Elizabethan era!
Had French for two days.... we watched the most lovely movie. I hadn't seen it yet.... in French with subtitles of course. what lovely voices...
I was driving home this evening, and saw the most beautiful full moon rising in the east... my front room faces east so I get to see this sometimes. Anyway I flipped on the classical station and heard this... there are many parts to it, I think I got the right one. Leo Delibes: La Source, Suite #3 (La Source means The Well) Sounded like fairies were out tinkling around in the moonlight, very lovely
Found a really cool Bond intro song I hadn't seen,,, Casino Royale. I'm thinking sorta dark thoughts right now (darn I wish the rain would stop here) this fit the mood... really beautiful graphics. Turns out David Arnold, who is a SODs chum of Justin's, did the movie score for this. He didn't write the theme song.
I'm really feeling bummed about politics right now. Suddenly I found myself walking around the house humming this Spike Jone's ditty, and decided I'd look for it on youtube .... this is a real gem. It goes downright psychotic at one point, as was not uncommon for early Disney cartoons. All hand animated too, even more jaw dropping. Hadn't seen it for years, like when I was 5, on Sheriff John. Anyway it should make us all think and remember how lucky we really are.... things are much worse in spots of the Middle East right now. Count your blessings, happy Sunday, and yes I can do this 'cause I'm a bit German (like others I could name.)
Heard this the other day on BBC2: Billy Ocean with a cover of A Simple Game. It was on Ken Bruce's show here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b073qn1v. Go to about 02:04:00 to hear it fully.
Wow. My reply disrepeared. Anyway, I've been listening to the Moodies in concert as much as possible. But driving back home last night, I listened to WTZQ, a great radio station that still has soul. Fittingly, I heard this one:

And another good song they played was this:
