Here's a second attempt to tie threads together. It shows what I am hearing now, settles once and for all the question of digital or analog, and gives you a tad of "Hey, 19" to boot.

Otay. It's been a long search. 80% of music is boring. After that, that one was too German, that one was too discordant, that one was too nasty, that one was too amateurish, but this one is just right:

. . . until tomorrow, that is. I didn't know the Donald had an album out last year.

How very amusing! (I don't have an arrest record... no foolin') what a weird flag, is this thing being invaded by spammers again?

Ooog on the scatological humor :P

Always liked the Red Balloon (it was popular to show when I was in 2nd grade I remember) It was one of three "other movie" references I found in the Lone Ranger.

I guess being a keyboardist yourself you'd like Fagan's discussions. I'm really more of a guitar person... I can play keyboards and read music, but guitars are so much easier! Me mum was always messing with that sort of thing, she inherited this Hammond organ from her aunt.... all sorts of settings. I wish someone would haul the thing out of here.... having said that, I love all musical effects.... it's painting a sound picture...

oh dear they dropped a piano off the roof too? hehe YEAH we sure have come a long way with music since the early 60s eh?

I like the photo on sunken condos.... black smokers I do believe!!! ;) heeh like that song, oddly enough Mike and Tara Pinder had up photos of their bowling in PETALUMa on their FB........ what a flashback THAT was, I went to school very near there in the 70s, much catting in Petaluma in my youth. Such a perfect song right now!

I never could bowl worth beans.... I'll be in the corner picking on a guitar or reading a book...

Lessee if we can get Blue Sphinx out of hiding... hey psst, I thought you liked don fagen? Am i misreading those black smoker signals?

There's an interview of Peter Cetera somewhere about the guys going to Indiana Beach and getting drunk and barfing over themselves. He'd be in the corner picking his guitar, and all the girls would flock to him. He got it.

Well, I am a huge fan of Donald Fagen for many reasons: His music is awesome, he's sharp, he has a bent for nailing absurdity, he makes me laugh, and more I guess; but eventually, I start feeling lowdown after hearing too much of the negative lyrics. Right after I flipped out over Sunken Condos, he went somewhat into shuffle - what I didn't like about Kamakiriad, too. I thought I would like something with the nice brass and fusion jazz rhythms shared by Chicago and Fagen. I would enjoy Fagen without the shuffle and nasty lyrics; I'd like old Chicago without the irritating jagged edge of the riffs. It is cruel to say, but I didn't enjoy Terry Kath's improv, then I didn't like the boom-clap of the post-Cetera era.

Quickly tired of Fagen after listening all night, I ran for the comfort of . . .

SOTWS!

Ah, so beautiful, so smooth, so unabrasive, such a refreshing chill down the spine. My complaint with Justin solo albums is they are so intimate, so personal. It makes me feel like I'm hopping in the middle of somebody's bed. It's weird listening to such profound expressions of love when they're written for HER!

Like that crack in the world............ on SOTWS I rather like the stuff in the middle. "Blue Eyes" still bothers me... and while the ending tracks are good for dance and such (would be great to exercise to) it's not what you want to call "comfort music". The rest, yeah.......... good listening.

I've been popping on the DVDs from the Timeless Flight package. Some I'd forgotten about are quite good (I think the TOSOL video is sheer genius). Trying to finish up an afghan I started right after getting back off the last tour. Need down time on the couch after the evening walk.

What I listen to of Fagen's tends to just be music, he's gooood at putting it together. So often I never listen to lyrics...

it's really time for brekkie, you'll excuse me......... Happy New Year in the UK!

"Blue Eyes" sounds fantastic through earbuds on this computer. I didn't like it at first. The last tracks give me arrhythmia.

I heard about the hole in the world, but not the crack.

I suppose Fagen's lyrics aren't as bad as I thought. I used to think he was saying "Dego freaks." He probably sang something else than what I heard in, say, "Haitian Divorce." Why are we talking about this? I commend those who defect to the inspirational threads. Yes, I love the chording, rhythm, and brass from Fagen and Steely Dan. I was surprised, though, to hear how much Chicago and Fagen/Steely sounded alike.

You seem to be taking a lot of downtime, luna. Are you crazy, or are you just growin' old?1

Growing old......................

Everyone always carries on over their "Moody Moments"............. I had an odd one today.... dropped into my favorite local fabric store (You'd love it, you gotta come to Seattle some day and we'll do fabrics) anyway I had just found a very very very nice book on fashion design, art, figure drawing........ I was mesmerized looking at this thing in line (sale day, a gal ahead of me bought over $100) anyway they always have muzak on really low, it's a sales thing... I heard something familiar, listened "naw".... back to the book then "naw can't be".... back to the book......... yes, it WAS "Question" and Justin's voice ever so faint, my brain registered it on a really remote level........ very strange. Usually all you get in that place is "Go Now" on the oldies station... someone must be tuning in a better station these days.

so I heard "Question" in the fabric store today, whoooppee!!

Gonna go do more of that paper sort thang, and watch some more LOTR. Alas one of my discs in the Extended version seems to have a flaw :.(

Here's this is a link to the book I just got. It's really fun! I have a funny thing about collecting art books... one day maybe when I can't do anything except lift a paint brush, I'll get back into it.

Sewing isn't fun without a sewing machine. I was joking with somebody a few days ago, remembering the era when I would design and sew my outfits in the morning before work. I had an audience, so I didn't want to disappoint them.

I know the feeling about MB's songs. I would hear one at the grocery store sometimes. You know the scene: 11:00 p.m., drained from work, unable to focus on what you want to get, then you hear a faint bit of Justin, and a lightning bolt shoots up your spine. Then, you walk around the store with a silly grin for the duration. It used to happen when I had the luxury of mall-walking, too. Maybe my favorite was when I was cleaning my room one December 22, and I was immediately sitting on top of the radio. My conscious mind hadn't registered the stimulus, nor did it recollect any time and space between. But one moment I was sweeping, and the next I was on top of the radio. It was the first time I had ever heard "Forever Autumn." It is a glorious song with a glorious voice.

Paper sort! Eek! I've got a box 8" high! Work to back.

Funny I was just thinking about that... when I first found out Justin sang "Forever Autumn".... it was such a huge hit and all over the radios in its time. The day I made the connection between that song and the Moodies I sorta freaked out. He DOES have a voice that gets to you, doesn't it?

Justin never sends a bolt up my back....... it's more a "calm focus" sort of thing. A moment when all the thoughts jump out of your head and run around gibbering in circles. He has indecent effects on otherwise perfectly normal rational females....

I mostly sew to mend.... but try to keep up with the creative side... go through cycles. I have enough fabric to take me well into retirement quilting. Thinking of making quilted jackets... they can be very attractive and arty.

He's like a refiner's fire, all love. His dirtiest thoughts would inspire me.

My hat's off to people who can control their lives enough to get some creative time. I have forgotten how.

Now, I'm hearing recordings of my boss' preacher. You can guess what has motivated the change.

Creativity is the ultimate control freak thing. You put everything else on hold, especially cleaning the house. I get into a project and the place looks like a bachelor pad in about half a day. :P

I'm alas still hearing "Boomer Sooner" fight song, and occasionally the Michigan fight song. go away you ear worms!!! Think I'll go look up OU site and make sure no one was seriously injured. Boy that was a hard hitting game.... good hustle on the part of OU gotta say.

I so hope they have this article nailed to the Alabama locker room door............. OU was just having so much fun sacking 'Bama's QB.... too gleeful!!!

I'd rather read Justin's girly novels. Actually, if they're his, then I would enjoy it.

I'm hearing the chill, winter wind. The boss' dog had the room smelling like hard-boiled eggs. (Or was it I?)

I haven't had any delightful music bopping through my head lately. The usual sound around here is the dog chewing on himself (he's nervous) and the aquarium bubbling. Ever have moments where you feel like doing NOTHING and just sitting like a bump on a log? But then rationality kicks in and you prod yourself into some chore or deed, then pretty soon you're into the next project.....

I'm eying this television my son gave me, big screen... wonder if I could set it up to play nothing but Moody videos.......... the *Timeless Flight* box set had some interesting things.... a couple of the DVDs are these video/albums of TOCCC for example, and "Threshold" is in there too. While the visuals are a nice idea, I was terribly disappointed in the really bad mix they did of it. Either I need a quad system to play it, or they are flatly done wrong. Most video systems are stereo, and it seemed to be missing tracks.

Won't be angry or criticize YET but for what I paid, you'd think they'd do a decent mix on the albums. And some of the misprint in graphics!!! shudder.........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I know everyone is yearning for some new music material, so I thought of something fun. A little local humor. We have huge clams in Puget Sound called geoducks. Enjoy,
alas........... only rap tonight. I'm not a big fan of rap, but this seems to say it all tonight. The first shot is down the Harbor Stairs near Pikes Place, a very pretty place at night.
Anyway there were a lot of dudes hurt tonight on the 49ers and I hope they are ok. But GO HAWKS. Ok leslee, find us some good music.
