Well let's put it this way............ I was 20 years in the 7th Fleet, and the smut discussed about Justin was about on par with sailors on liberty. 'Nuff said. You don't want to know. I felt really afraid for Justin a few times.

Ok enough of that. I've always thought Justin was a member of the "clean costume club." How this works is, as a quasi professional costumer off and on over the years, there are always one or two cast members who are just outstanding performers, and they turn in their costumes without a speck of make up on them, and very little dirt or sweat. I don't know how they do it. I'm a very active person myself, they get stinky, or dirty from being on the floor (I do a lot of laundry... seriously I'm always wrastling a dog, or crawling under a car... ) I'm CLEAN but it's a lot of effort to stay that way.

Then some actors think they have to put make up on their boobs even, and everywhere (you name it) the poor costumes are just wrecks, especially around the necks. Stage make up is not exactly water soluble.

I miss those days. I always slunk to the costume shop (you had to do SOMETHING in production at the college I went to) to hide out because I'm good with a needle. The rest of the poor schmucks were always out lumping heavy lighting instruments around, blaugh what dirty work. Or even worse, knee deep in sawdust and paint. Yuck. Cough cough......... theatre can be pretty grubby back stage that's for sure.

I suspect the Moodies do a lot of their own clothing for stage and off, but I did spot KC many years ago, running around with some cleaning (obvious stage clothing)............ she was cussing a storm trying to get into the Schnitz in Portland. Pretty funny actually. Bless her, she's a true theater lady. But yeah, Justin always looks spotless doesn't he? :)

Good for Justin. I never thought much about it, but you're right. I recall being appalled by a performer who looked like he couldn't keep his fingers out of the tobacco long enough to wash up before he went on stage.

Tidiness gets harder as the eyesight goes. I often wonder if Justin doesn't have somebody help him dress. I used to watch the guitar techs and think he had a prima donna complex or something. That hypothesis did not last long, as I began losing my mid-range vision. I couldn't plug anything in to save my life. I couldn't put makeup on with my contacts, but I couldn't fix my hair without them. Getting the mascara wand behind the glasses is really difficult when driving. I actually have to stop somewhere. I don't wear spaghetti globs anymore as there's no eating in between jobs when I'm here all the time - but I do wear one collar up and one down, things get put on wrong-side out, buttons get mismatched. Even when I try to dress up, I miss curling a swatch of hair, swab my nose with the mascara wand, drizzle grease all down the front - the usual.

Then, there were the good old days of teaching physics. Some schools required dresses and nylons. Then, I had to crawl in the splintery cabinets every day. That meant I needed a new pair of panty-toes every day, but I was rich then, and I could afford it.

Getting older and losing eyesight has certainly given me a new appreciation for some nearsighted kids in classrooms. Poor little spuds...

The good thing about getting dim eyesight is all men look really good :) I hope that works in reverse too! HEHEH. But I suspect all performers really appreciate the help on stage. You do get really muddled sometimes. I was just watching Arlo Guthrie, and he had a roadie come out and help him too, at one point (something simple) he was plainly exhausted, but still doing a really good show. I did notice that Arlo skipped electronic tuners and just tuned by ear. Impressive. Sounded marvelous. Yes I suspect many performers have helpers, or possibly help each other backstage, check each other and such. It depends on the performer. I think a good guitar roadie is also a sort of "personal manager" for the guitar dudes. Don't quote me on that. But one could get quite tangled with wires and remotes and straps I suspect.

I've been thinking about the way Justin thinks (or appears to). He seems to think in terms of pictures instead of words. That way, he can tell the same story from different angles. I like that. He also speaks as if he is looking for the story behind the story, what is really intended or meant. I like both qualities.

I've never tasted him. But do explain why Trader Joe's Rio Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice always makes me think of him?

Justin answered three more of my questions on KONO. (I only asked a few thousand.) Mainly, he invited us all into his music room. How swell. I think this is one of those things where when you get your perspectives straightened out, you see the room was there all along. I'm so, so far away. I ramble, too.

Me liked the KONO interview. It was nicely produced, and the subject matter was easy on the nerves and interesting.

Come to think of it, Justin answered more than three questions. I'm not saying Justin is the answer to every question.

BI-EEEEEEE.

I am is-posing the lucky three have already been selected. I feel your joy. Really. I'm happy for you.

When you didn't email me this morning,
To tell me 'bout the three chatters you found,
I said "I'm happy for you,
I'm really happy for you."
Found someone else,
I guess I won't be coming 'round.
. . .
So if it's gotta be this way,
Don't worry, baby, I can take the news okay.
But if you see me walking by -----

Yeah, right. Work to back.

Oh, no. I don't agree with Justin 100% of the time. He is NOT a "lazy idiot."

Ruby Red grapefruit juice sounds SOOOO good about now. This cold won't let go :P

I'm noticing a whole bunch of hits on my generic blog which puzzled me for a while, until I remembered I was critiquing a certain fan (and I used a code name so their name will not come up on googles). A very passing minor issue I assure you, other things have my attention right now in the Moody world, other concerns. Sadly there really ARE fans out there who think it's all about them.

It's about the band and the music. It's about the Moody Blues themselves. Not transitory side musicians, not the transitory fans, not about the cover bands or "sounds like bands"........

Ya all go have good summers out there. The band is taking a break. Play your CDs be happy and keep the faith. Laugh

It's a blue world, it takes somebody to help somebody........... ahhhh it's a blue world, it takes somebody to love somebody...........

You are being academic, evaluating the Moody Blues scene as one factor, all others being negligible, and wholly ignoring the messy state of things that makes everything that should be blow up.

I is-pose you read the article about the charity event Friday by now - or were you there? You are so lucky. Justin was up in Kitsap Countyland for a whole week or so. He obeyed your request!

He did that one gig at the benefit, yes, and it looks or sounds like it was just the one song, with Julie on keyboards. No Mike apparently (?) and there were other performers. I hope Justin had a chance to hob nob about, it looks like it was a good party. Alas with all those young lovelies there looking for wealthy husbands, I wouldn't stand a chance! heheh NO that place is about two (or three!) hours drive north of where I am........... hopefully some of that cash will go toward getting street people out of the street. Sheesh Vancouver has had a terrible problem with that, some of the worst I've seen.

In Hendersonville, they want to get rid of the homeless by:

condemning housing
selling it to businesses of government's choosing
raising property taxes
building a new shelter with more amenities.

In other words, they want to kill the middle class to make everybody rich or poor.

I've thought a lot about it................... I think each state or county should set up camps for homeless, or for abused women and their children... you know, folks down on their luck. Give 'em a chance to be normal humans again. Ignoring the problem is irresponsible, it's a mental and social health thing. There are many ways it could be done, but emphasis should be on rehab. The camp could be built by the inhabitants.... you know, it just needs organization, not a whole lot of money to be thrown at it. That's the problem with modern social services. The attitude is "throw a bunch of money at it" to cure it. Money isn't the cure. Sound management is.

OK I won't rant. But if I were queen of the world........... things would run much smoother! Wink
