I'm going to put down some YouTubes of keyboardists I like. This will take some time because I will stop to listen to the music as I go.

First, I like this guy. As it turns out, he is not really playing here. The singer does all the tracks himself, but the guys did help on live shows. There are two pianists. One runs in place as he plays and doesn't get much airtime. The other is so incredibly loose, I marvel. The piece is about as low as you can go on technical difficulty, but he is still fun to watch. I forgot his name, which his Guy Chambers. Attempting to Google into it, I see World Party is playing the Troubadour this Friday.

Or what about this guy. I tried to post a sampling of options, but you can find them if this doesn't work and you still want to see/hear. I didn't realize how much music theory was going into Steely Dan before I watched them.

This guy is also very good, but for all I know, Julie may have taught him everything he knows.

I also liked the way Bias Boshell flew around the keyboards. I couldn't find anything on YouTube, but you can tap your memory, surely. Then, there's my favorite ever, Me Mum. She was so amazing, I grew up thinking it was normal to play Chopin and Tchaikovsky with the greatest of ease.

Hey, luna, speaking of a mental construct more than an actual person - whatever that is - see how she's driving you down?

anyone here ever learned to play a harp? This is one of those many tunes I would buy a whole recording for just one track years ago...(still do that I guess) More sky-gazing music...

I played a harp once. My best friend in high school, who came over straight from Red China, was a mean violinist. We were in the music storage room one day, and somebody had put a harp there. I was more or less an obedient kid, but she defied me to play it. I unzipped the case just enough to play "Twinkle Twinkle" or "Mary Had a Little Lamb," and quickly zipped it back up. I would love to play the harp as well as Mike Dawes plays the guitar, though.

cool video leslee. It's all about the depths of the human mind, and in the end, it all fits together just fine. One must sometimes go to the depths to come up to the highest heights. Remind me to tell you about how I can sit on the bottom of a pool for several minutes. It does take practice.

Once I was a rabid Marx Brothers fan and wanted very badly to learn how to play harp, because Harpo could make it sound so sweet, and I loved Harpo. I was very young. Alas I could never find a harp I could afford, so I stuck to guitars. Me mum once said she tried to play a harp (she was a whiz on the piano, in Mike Pinder's realm) but she said the strings were very very hard to pluck and get a tone out of. In your spare time, look at harpist's arms, they are very very strong and muscular.

There are two types of harps, one is the orchestral we are used to, tall, huge. The other is a smaller "strolling minstrel" harp and they look heavy, straps and such involved. We have a harpist who comes around to the hospitals here and plays wonderfully.... me mum and I sang "Danny Boy" to it when mom was so sick and in hospital.

I still really like Harpo and Groucho tho. Groucho was a Libra, and played guitar pretty well too.

Everyone says I love you, but just what they say it for, I never knew
It's just inviting trouble for the poor sucker who sez I love you...........

--Groucho, serenading some ducks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sphinx, that was really lovely music.... I think if one tried hard enough, you could do that on the guitar. Would take practice, which I don't do enough... I was just wondering how they would construct that bridge and castle in such a geologically precarious situation...........
Dittoes on the castle. It wasn't difficult from an engineering standpoint, but they must have spiked the wine they gave to the planners when they asked for a variance.
I"m not much on symbolism. I saw five guys going crazy over the same pair of empty shoes that led to the bottom of a pool.
Does sitting on the bottom of the pool involve water in the deep end and a cement overcoat? I'd leap at the opportunity, except my stalker would try to marry me posthumously.
eheheeh with a fish in my pocket. "Dig a little deeper" basically. Only if the concrete is poured into textile blocks!
that stalker is a self inflicted wound, you need to stop escalating. He thinks "No" means "yes" and I could name some other men not far away that think the same. Not mentioning names. A riot would erupt.
Communication is very important. Can't be vague, gotta be firm, direct, and clear. Even then some people just won't listen, alas. Cry
OK back on topic everyone
Was just rewatching the Google hang out.... I had to run it back a few times to be sure, but Justin said he liked this song. I always liked it too (in fact, it was one of the first songs I learned harmony to when I was very small and just becoming aware of music) I thought I'd put it up.... a nice version out on youtube. Alas love can often be sad.... and dramatic........ but doesn't this guy have a really nice voice???
and another one by the same group. THIS is MY favorite. Wow these songs bring back those years with my family, I was the littlest bouncing around in the back of the car, and the radio on. We all used to sing in the car. Laugh even Dad. Which always shocked everyone.
I am back to Chicago, "Someday." The boss subscribed to YouTube, so now I have to go in the back door just to occupy my mind. You wouldn't want me bringing a keyboard to work, would you? That would be suweet.
That woman looks a lot like my Mum when she was young, she wanted to be a singer. She really DID have a voice like an angel. The men in my family are too grumpy to sing, probably what draws me to Justin. Women all sing and we all have good Welsh voices too. I must teach my grandbaby to sing, he's already starting.... and loves melodies. Makes granny very very happy Laugh
I was digging the Platter woman's getup, too. I may have fit in better in that era. Imagine Frankenstein in a Beehive.
I am hearing high and low range. I blame the dog for entirely knocking out the mid-range in my left ear. If she keeps her barking up, it will make no sense for me to be in the music world. I'll have to find another way to get my jollies. I'm not on Rush's pay grade, so I can't get a cochlear implant.
I wish I could get my hair to look halfway that good. That is a pre-Beehive. The Beehive got a lot more outrageous in the following years, turned into a Marge Simpson look. I like how Audrey Hepburn wore hers in *Breakfast at Tiffany's*
The sheet music scene was particularly of interest.
